N.Wood
You shouldn't remove the pin totally from the outer link, just push it through so it is still stuck in the link but you can remove the inner plate. If you have some spare chain undo what you've done (taking the advice above) and start again. Trials Punk
If you've got enough to play with, take that link out and try a different one. Spray a little lube on it aswell to help ease it in.If that dosn't work, try and stop the one link bending out until you can line the pin up proper. Trials Punk
Although, if your a real man like Cai, you'll stick it straight in dry........
cai
Haha, real men all the way..Going back to the chain, its not that hard to put back together if your using the tool correctly:Sit the chain in the chain tool and rotate the arm until contact is made against the pin on the chain, apply pressure to push the pin out. You do not need to push the pin out all the way to split a chain, pushing it out until the pin is at its furthest point will mean you can break the chain and also put the chain back together easily because the pin is still inserted very slightly. It may be useful to use a old rag whilst handling the chain as there will be alot of oil going onto your hands, oil is resilient to water and can be very hard to wash off. Trials Punk
Also, cheap chain tools are not the way to go. Tolerances on them are pants, invest in a proper chain tool and you will see the difference.
PaRtZ
Park tool CT-7. Thats the daddyAlso, as NATHAN said the only way you're going to fix it is by getting some spare chain and replacing the link you took off. You may need to remove the link before the f*cked one too...
