Mr Plod
Hey guys. I'm off to Tadworth, Surrey tomorrow for a month to start my British Transport Police training. I'll be taking my Laptop with me along with DVD's and so on... I was looking at getting one of those USB internet dongle ma-jigs so I can use the internet at night... I only need it for a month so I don't want to sign up to a mega long contract so I was looking at the Pay as you go range. Whats the best one to go for (I'm running off tomorrow so preferably I need to pick it up on my way to the train station so in store purchase would be ideal)? Is there a limit as to how long I can surf the net every night?Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers
maxxis26
i was reading in micro mart recently and if i remember right 3 mobile has a pay as u go dongle and so does t mobilethe dongle uses mobile networks to access the internet via 3G so you need to have mobile reception to use ittake a look around any GOOD mobile shop and see what the deals are but be aware for short term use you will have to pay for the dongle and it isnt cheapmaxxis

NicP
I was using a 3 g one earlier this week there pretty mint, not that slow either, I did find mine got rather hot and occasionally dumped (even in the middle of bromely so i dont see if i can be a signal problem)overall though they are great.I think my dad paid 50 quid, for the stick and 3 gb usage, so it's not too bad. Tomm
Sometimes if you have a posh 3g phone you can tether that to the laptop and just use the 3g via that. Saves buying a dongle and if you're already on contract, an unlimited data plan might be cheaper than having a separate 3g dongle contract. The other thing is - check where you're going and whether there is actually 3g coverage (which will vary depending on what network you go with). Whilst these things are pretty decent in areas with 3g coverage, when signal gets shaky they're next to useless.

You just plug it in and it connects your laptop to the internet somehow.. the internet addon is £5 per month for 'unlimited' usage. Nice phone too. Si-man
Don't get a T-mobile one, the signal is shocking. Lawnmowerman has it, used to live about 500 yards from the mast and still took 10 mins to load a page. Really is that bad. I have a t mobile phone and the internet on that takes ages aswell.
