bikeperson45
Today I got a big buckle in my rim (sideways and up and down) so thought it best to get a new rim. After looking on Tarty, main ones I see in my budjet are Alex DX32 and Trialtech Race Undrilled. I ride street and do a lot of spins so I'm really after a strong rim and don't mind weight so much. Which of these two would be best or is there any others you'd recommend? Also, I 've been looking for a new bar/stem combo and really think i should get one now. Currently it's flat bars and 120x10* (I think) and this is crap for getting the front end up. But after changing with my Hardrock combo, I find it a lot easier. So, I'd like to go for 90x15* streety stem or similar. Any ideas? And for bars I was thinking 2" rise bars. Would this be okay? or a little high? Don't really know which to go for and am on a reasonably low budjet. Thanks
Cookyboy
2inch rise sounds ideal for the bars
forteh
If you have a 36h rear hub then the dx32 is a good choice - strong, holds a grind well and not excessively heavy if you drill it If youre limited to 32 hole then the trialtech is as good as any really. Oops, forgot about spokes. On the DX32 is it very heavy compared to normal rims? I don't care about weight much but I care within reason. On stems, anyone know where I can get a 90x15* stem? Looked on Tartybikes and the closest is Monty Urban (90x10*) is this close enough? If I get some 2" riser bars? Thanks for replys
forteh
My 32 hole dx32 is 654g with 18mm holes drilled in it, that is lighter than most other rims out there; I believe you can go as large as 25mm holes in them for more weight saving. They are only 38mm wide so make sure you will be able to set up your brake ok, the reduced width can cause more tyre roll at lower pressures but Ive not really had any problems with it
bikeperson45
Just checked spokes and it's 32 So most likely gonna go for the trialtechPretty sure about going for Simtra ReSyStem as stem which is 115mm x 15°but will need some riser bars, on budjet so was thinking Monty 219 bars (http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=2164&category_id=138)Anyone know if these are strong? Thanks again Edited February 16, 2009 by bikeperson45

bikeperson45
just saw that the 219 bars are for mod or short ridersAny good on a stock?thanks again
Matt Vandart
I think they are refering to the fact they are a little bit narrower than other trials specific bars. Ultimately you can put them on whatever you want, it's all about how they feel to you.I'ts only about 2" average.I think they are really nice bars meself esp as they are fairly cheap.Buying bars is always a pain in the erse because you don't know if your gonna like them until they are on.At the minute I am looking at some new bars too, but have been putting it off for ages for just this reason. It took me ages to get some new forks because I am paraniod about upsetting the feel of my bike, but I went for it in the end and I am really glad I did.Big improvement.Matt
