ramps
Ok the racism arguement will continue forever, thats clear. Also this going away from the origional artical. Now for what I think...I come from Burnley, most people in the northwest will remember the 'race riots' that happened here a few years ago being on the news, not so sure if it was on national or not but bassically around here there is clear divide between white people and asian people. That divide starts just after sainsburys on Colne road if anyone is interested. In that area known as 'Duke bar' where the majority of the asians in Burnley live I would not feel at all safe on foot and am not too keen on driving through. This stems from being a victim of Racism in one instance, where i was called a 'f**king white willy' and told i was going to be killed at a petrol station in this area by an overcrowded car full of asians. Telling the police got me the responce of 'we can't do anything about it'. If you go out in town on a night out it isn't rare for an asian drug dealer to come up to you offering coke or e's. No white drug dealer has ever done this to me. Also quite recently in the local paper was the story of a woman in 50's being put on a life support machine after telling to asian lads she didn't smoke, therefore couldnt give them a ciggy and so the proceeded to stamp on her face. In a seperate incident I walked into a different petrol station to see two asians screaming at the shop assistant because she would not serve them with alcohol because they had no ID on them, One of the guys exact words were 'you f**king stupid white bitch I have a 60 grand car outside' Mostly people who say they are in no way racist have never actually seen somewhere like Burnley. I like to say I'm not a racist because obviously living here I chat with asian shop owners, scrap yard owners etc and these guys are generally helpful and cheery and yet the majority of the wanna be gangstars in the 'duke bar' style areas ruin the opinions of people in the other areas of town. Some one will no doubt find this post racist, and to be honest I don't care, these are few little stories from my little town. I wont go too deeply into how I feel as I am sure I will get banned for having an opinion which is not PC
Matthew62
I understand where you're coming from. In nottingham i lived in a predominantly black area with a lot of gang violence and it sure is easy to build up racial stereotypes but i soon learned that gang culture transends all races. Unfortunately for you you see an Asian side to it, i've witnessed both a black and white side to it.....it exists within a certain personality not a race...and it is unnacceptable whoever is doing it. But being exposed to just one particular group shouldn't inform youre entire opinion even though i can understand how it might.
Tony Harrison
With religion in decline it's disappointing that people are probably more fearful than ever before. It's the cause that can be attributed to almost anything. Getting married young for fear of losing the first girl you ever got anywhere with, staying in that shite job because you're terrified of unemployment, being an individual because you fear rejection from your peers, calling the cops because someone with a camera is within 100 yards of a kid, not crossing the road without the green man when there isn't a car in sight, speaking your mind for fear of the fearful.Yes, fear is as natural as our urge to eat and bone, but in the days of education for all in the west, cheap consumer electronics and more disposable income and freedom of choice than ever before, you'd think we'd be dealing with it a little better. In this case, as always, it's no doubt white middle-class do-gooders trying to appease ethnic minorities who'd probably rather be left to get on with things. What chance is there of equality when we have all these meddling politicians and councillors taking exception to colour every five minutes? BONGO
Fair enough i think. Can't have the next generation being racist.
Tomm
It also pisses me off that a Portuguese guy I used to work with used to refer to various other members of staff who were black/white/whatever using all sorts of different racially 'dubious' terminology (I'm sure you can guess) and then one day a white guy referred to him a 'porko'. A disciplinary was bought about within a couple of hours and the white guy was dismissed. Bullshit.Yeah, it is bullshit but I don't think that's a reason to be pissed off at the Portuguese guy (other than because he calls you names). It's over-zealous idiots (usually white, middle class, if we're going to stereotype) trying too hard not to be racist, but failing completely by making a distinction between people of different races. Like your boss in this case. See also: people calling Christmas stupid stuff like 'Winterval', calling children racists for not liking food etc. It's all just the same thing and I don't really think it's anything to do with black people not liking white people and vice versa. These days, people fear racism more than they fear people of different races...EDIT: Which is basically what Snappel has said.EDIT 2: @Charel
fruitbat
What the F*** is this county coming to.My wife doesn't like spicy food, simply as she doesnt like spicy food, so I'm guessing that as an English Woman in her own country that she has lived in all her life, not liking food that has simply derived from another country purely down to disliking the taste of spicy food, makes her a racist!!!!!!!This country is getting worse, I don't like sprouts, does that make me racists against whichever culture sprouts are from (which is probably England as no one else would make claim to something which such an awful taste)People need to realise that this country is England, therefore people who live here should abide by the English way of life. I believe America makes people who want to live there swear an oath to the American flag and the American way of life, thats something (if true) I respect the Americans for, and maybe England should take that stance too. If people come to this country and don't like the way we do things, they should go back to the country they came from. If that sounds like a racist comment so be it, i'm far from racist and having lived in Bradford all my life I have been around Asians all my life, but 1 thing I can't stand people who try to force there way of life onto this country, and it is normally Asians who do just that but the English government are too fearful to make a stance against it due to fear of being classed as 'racist'Frooty Edited February 13, 2009 by fruitbat
Matt Vandart
It's the they took our jobs thing that got Hitler popular you know.I can see why British people of genuinely British (not just f**king English you ignorant f**ks) decent get pissed off with eastern Europeans and such like moving to Britain and getting income support and such like. The ancestors of these British people had to fight and work hard for countless generations to create a society that provided any kind of social support. I'm sure they did it for their descendants to benefit from not so that people could just move here and then claim these benefits purely because they are "Europeans".This article really is f**king ridiculous, I can't believe that anyone could be so stupid as to suggest this crap let alone print it.Racism sucks in all its many forms, this country is becoming more and more "racist" the current economic climate is a recipe for disaster."They took our jobs" is bollox, youre perfectly entitled to work anywhere in Europe, if it pisses you off that much go and "Take their jobs"Having said that I go to many different countries to work, end up missing my kids for sometimes months at a time and that sucks, so it's not for everyone, but it pays the bills as their is f**k all round here and in this work briefly meet people of many different cultures and very few of them are as ignorant and racist as your average "Johnny British".Matt Edited February 14, 2009 by Matt Vandart
