sayshell
Hey I have a normal zhi (screw on) hub. Right now I am running a 16t acs claw on it, if I switch to a 14t will that work? I can't remember if you need a special hub to run a freewheel that size. Thanks!
JT!
I'd be more concerned about how much effect that'll have on your gear ratio. What No. of teeth are you running up front? Why are you wanting to change? psycholist
14T is the minimum that can be fitted on a standard screw on hub thread. You could confirm for the specific freewheel with whoever you're buying it off anyway.
Revolver
For your style of riding I might suggest a 135mm spaced hub with a bmx-style driver, these go as small as 9t.As for your question, it would fit, yes.

skuzzbucket
from my experance a 14 tooth freewheel runs on a smaller thread dia to a 16tooth.as seen on flip flop bmx hubs. would consider buying a cassette hub with inter-changable spockets that way you could fine tune your gear ratio.if low on funds what about increasing the front 2teeth. sayshell
well the problem is I am running the maximum size sproket on my bike if I run any larger the chain rubs the frame. (this is my mod) I am on low budget. Is anyone here 100% sure you can run a 14t? I read somewhere that the smallest you can run on a normal hub is 16t and 15t if its this special freewheel made for it. Also on bmx screw on hubs, they all say compatible only with 13 or 14t freewheel.
sstein
There are 2 sizes of BMX thread, the smaller works with 13t or 14t and the larger work with special 14t and larger. Normal 135mm hubs with a shimano type freehub body (normal type) use sprockets with the smallest size 12t, Bmx type drivers go as small as 9t (I have heard that some even go to 8t). 14t freewheels for the larger thread are sh*te, get a normal hub and use a small, wide based sprocket! I found it on some mechanic thing. I just ended up buying the tree splined sproket. This way I can slam the sproket really close to the frame and it shouldn't hit the seatstay.
