Rusty190
Hello!I know many prefer bleeding with water instead of oil. I´ve tried bleeding my Echo brakes with water, but Im not satisfied. (The bathtub method) My second attempt to bleed the rearbrake seemed to be very good, but some days later, the brake didn´t respond very well... =( I took a check at Tartys, and found this text regarding Echo CNC Rim Brakes:"Please note that using water to bleed the brake will invalidate the warranty." -Will the Echos get broken? Corrode?Maybe water works best with Maguras?Any help is much appreciated! Edited June 2, 2009 by Rusty190
Jason222
Water generally rapes the seals - only bleed them with oil.
Revolver
What I've picked up from this forum goes along the lines of, they leak when they're bled with oil, and so because water's thinner, they leak even more. The Hitcher
only bleed echos with oil, I have tryed water many times and it has fcuked the brake. Maggies seem to be able to deal with water much better, so if you must use water do so with a maggy. And also as you have already mentioned your warenty will be void. Rusty190
Thank you guys. I have re-bleeded the Echo-brake with magura oil, and now it works welll!! So for all riders using Echo brakes, my advice is to use oil!
A.Baxter
Unlike a magura which has plastic seals the echo had metal ones and will corode and leak and completley kill the brake, so yeh oild for a deng brake m8. Adam (A)

The only bit that does, secures the piston in the caliper. Uncovering it is a nifty way of checking if the brake has been run on water since that little bit will rust.
