hello. i'm new to trials but not to mountain biking. i work in a bike shop but i've got a few questions before i buy all the bits for my frame.

will a pair of 26" double walled rims be ok, i dont need any super special trials wheels do I?

What width tyres should i use front and back?

everything else is ok :shifty:

Anyone from northampton add me please.

Dan

Ideally you want a strong, lightweight rim. Ideally 32 hole with thick sidewalls(lightweight, holds grinds / doesn't dent easily ) . Make sure you have a nice tight build though, preferably with brass nipples due to the high amounts of truing that can come with riding trials.

To be honest you're best off getting either a try-all or echo rear rim, the using pretty much anything light over 25mm wide on the front.

As for tyres id say minimum 2.00" on the front; 2.3" on the back...maximum, 2.35" front, 2.5" rear.

Try talking to Trisandhisbt on here, he's from the Northants. I used to live there as well, and ill be up for a week or so at Easter.

will welly do :P

anyways, id go for an alex rim on the back, 20 quid and real strong. on the front maybe a mavic or something light (i hear an onza rim is now lighter than a mavic so maybe that)

you could use some random wheels but they arnt made for trials and will break quite quick

as foir tyres, i have a 2.35 on back and a 2.10 on the front, though im thinking of 2.35 on both as im starting front wheel landings ect when i rebuild my bike :)
