24 Vs 26 For Street Riding

You're a really good rider!

Seriously, if you want a 24", but a short one, it's the ciguena.

Ciguena 24"

I've got good reason to suspect that this guy still has his frame, so you could buy it and have it all nice and built up for when you are ready to ride again!

This is the geometry:

Head angle: 73 degrees

Wheelbase: 1025 mm adjustable

BB height: +20 mm with 400 mm fork

Chainstays: 380-395mm

I'm just not sure on the +bb stuff, ive either had + 0 or a bit of a drop.

In order for the bike to feel more similar you'll want a little more rise on a 24" than you would on a 26" :)

Look at mods vs stocks (more apparent a year or two ago); +60ish on a mod and +20 or so on stocks.

Similarly, BMXs have BB rise, yet they ride more in the fashion of street MTB in which the 26ers tend to have a fair bit of drop

Having riden a few short stocks in my time including Mhz, Ghz, base, Orange, onza raptor, Mk1 Ashton an Edd Tongue and an Inspired. I would definatly go for a 26". The Ghz would probably be the best riding frame out of the lot, closely followed by the Mk1 Ashton. The Ghz is so stiff and I would say more flickier than a 24".

So Stick with the 26" and keep it "real" is it were.

Your a sweet 26" street rider, dont ruin it with 24" pipe dreams......I did

If my measurements are correct, the ciguena can go as short as 1020, maybe even 1015.

It was 1025 where I had the wheel, which wasn't completely in. IT goes as longas about 1035, maybe 1040.

Basically what I'm saying is, if you can even just ride around on a bike, possibly do some small hops to try it out, you should go to london to try mine, providing I'm going.

Cheers everyone :) i'll def look into the cinguena and any others, gonna see how this megamo rides too in the meantime, i'm ok to ride around & get a feel for a bike for a little while, not sure i'm up to a london ride yet.

& good point too ross :)

Mod just aint for me, hate the way they steer (like a micro scooter) and i do alot of fast stuff so i want gears, i'm into pure ryan leech/jeff lenosky stuff but i don't want a sus fork.

Leon

I was just curious. I can see from your video you like riding fast (into rails) :D

I use a bulb with an 8sp cassette, i don't need all 8, could probably do with 5 long as it shifts properly with a normal shifter, i don't want an sis thumbshifter bolted to the seat tube lol.

Leon

Erm...

Is it funbolts, or quick-release?

It'll work, just make sure you get one with the original tensioner-hangers.

You might need a longer skewer.

A REALLY long one. I've got one, if you do.

Cheers :) I think i need something special, just checked out that marino site, can't believe how cheap it is!!

Anyone know the geometry of the old norco leech sig frame? :)

I know i want 1020 wheelbase, small headtube, vertical dropouts, big tyre clearance, v mounts.

What are the frames made out of? Couldn't find it anywhere :(

This is the geo i need

I'm excited!!!
