sam singlehurst
hi people i was wondering if anyone had the water in their maguras freeze with a water bleed ??and what do you gain from an oil bleed ??thanks
brick_top
Bleeding with water isn't good, 'cause there is no greasing effect. Go for Magura Royal Blood. It is designed for Magura's brakes.
Dan6061
Magura internals are plastic, so the water doesn't corrode them!A good water:anti-freeze mixture works fine in the cold weather. If you really want an oil bleed, just get some mineral oil, NOT DOT fluid, as that will ruin the seals on the pistons. Magura Royal Blood is just mineral oil in a fancy bottle. bigamac
Bleeding with water isn't good, 'cause there is no greasing effect. So how come so many riders use water?A good water:anti-freeze mixture works fine in the cold weather.+1And with oil you get a spongy feeling on the lever. Some riders like myself prefer water because its a smooth pull on the lever.
Jack Chinnery
No antifreeze for me, Slowly eats your seals.
Ashley-Wood
bollocks does it f**k your seals, i have always ran my brakes with anti freezeand water in the winter, and i have had the same slaves for ages. only reason i get a new body is beacause i snap them. my brake is fine and it always wil be with a little anti freeze.anti freeze + water ***

Muel
I use this stuff called Silkoline Pro Cool. It's a coolant designed for motorbike engines, so it's designed not to corrode aluminium or eat through seals. It's slightly heavier to pull than water, but not a fat lot, and it's safe down to -32 degress according to the bottle!A litre of it is like £6-7 aswell so it will do about 15 brakes I reckon. I've done 2 recently and used about 100-150ml, loads left in the pot I put under the drain tube on the lever.
JJhey
I think that water makes the lever feel quite good and normal magura oil feels quite stiff . What does the orange juice feel like?

A.Baxter
Water is fine it freezes just bring it inside for 5 minutes and it will unfreeze. Then just make sure you keep the brake moving all day until the temperature warms up. Anti-freeze eats away at hosing and seals :\Adam

And WILL NOT thaw until the temp rises above 0C, no matter how much you keep pulling itUse I use windscreen/wiper fluid. Works a treat! neonneon
If it's cold enough to freeze your brake it's bound to be icy out anyway, so it's doubtful you'll ride in the ice. Please stop going on about it!!!Just bleed it with water or oil! If you really wan't to ride in sub zero temperatures, antifreeze it!! End-of really!!Charlie Works though Had nothing els on me when i was out riding Lmfao!!Well, if you find yourself stranded with your bike on a desert island with your bike, you have a little refreshment.. lolCharlie x
