TrAsHeR
Hi guys, I am going to buy a Volkswagen Polo 1.4 Tdi 2000 5Drs soon. But I can't seem to find a way to get insured without paying fortune.I did a quote on Comparethemarket.com which gave me a first quote at 2800 which I can't afford. So then though about getting insured as a second driver but I cant find any company that will give me NCB.So my question is is there a company that will give me NCB under second driver which I will be able to use everywhere? If not does that mean after 5 year of driving if I want to get a insurance of my own I will have to pay 2800?Is there any other solutions?Help is really appreciated as I am new to this.Thanks. Jaffacakes
If your a second driver under your parents insurance, the only insurance company that lets you build NCB is direct line. Obviously thats the cheapest wayIf you put your mum or dad under your insurance, put down how long they have been driving for, NCB, then your insurance will be around £1000 cheaper. Maybe say you only drive 4/5000 miles a year too. Third party fire and theft. You must have a really bad post code. When I was 17 I was driving a 1.4 petrol polo, fully comp for £2000. £2800 for a 1.4D is just outragous

Hendrix
Put your parents as main driver, and you as a named driver. Then drive the car. Although - this is illegal if you use the car more than your parents. I didn't tell you to do this did I?

Max Quinn
Called Direct line today and they said that yes I do get NCB but its only available with them so I wont be able to use them with another company.Which is a pain.Elephant are the same i'm pretty sure if you do decide to go down that route. I'm with them, the NCB only works with them but it's better than nothing, and i simply can't afford my own insurance atm. I figure than wehenever i do get my own policy it weill be slightly cheaper anyways due to age, and i plan to be able to afford it a bit more by then anyways haha

David
First time driver, 17 years old, 1.4 TDI = Very expensive! I would say not get the car, get a cheap 1litre run-around and save the rest of the money!

531joshua
That's rather expensive - im 17, passed august time last year, im paying 50 quid a month fully comp on my dads policy on a 1.6 16v petrol..Just shop around, im sure you'll get it cheaper than that - try some other comparison sites, www.gocompare.com, www.moneysupermarket.com etcOne i'd say you could try though is co-op - my mates same age as me, he gets insured for 850 ish 3rd party F&T own policy on a 1.3 12v petrolI hate it how insurance is so much for young male drivers, especially when not all of them are actually high risk

JonMack
I was reading some car magazine the other day that said quite a few companies are charging more for TPFT than fully comp, that was for older drivers though but still worth taking into account.
