Hendrix
Just out of interest why spend £200 on a watch at 17?£10 one does really well, got all the basic functions. Pashley26
Just out of interest why spend £200 on a watch at 17?I just like looking flash when I go out, I go through phases of stuff. One week I'll spend all my wages on cars, then I'll spend the next week on clothes, etc etc I haven't got any over heads at all so I've got £300 to spend every week. Your only young once ?I've got a watch worth far more than that though.Heres my Gucci - Edited February 5, 2009 by Pashley26

Pashley26
I dont get why youd spend that much money on a watch and then not even get a specialist watch brand? ie Tag, Aqua, Breitling etc...I loved the simple, understated but quality look and feel of the Gucci one. You'll probably find it was made under license by one of those companies anyway.*Far from it Tom, I bought it at the jewelers next to John Lewis in Southampton about 2 years ago ! It was worth allot more than they are now. I'll have one of these one day (when I am really rich!) - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Original-Breitling-N...1QQcmdZViewItemI've got a Rolex aswell, but thats at my dads because he gave it to me but I didn't want to wear it for fear of it getting nicked and it's on his mantel piece in a case. I'll get a picture of it when I go to his on Sunday if you guys are interested ? It's not a particularly great one, but it was worth a bit in it's day. It's from the early 80's so it's worth -£150 now but it's still a nice movement. Edited February 5, 2009 by Pashley26
N.Wood
Navimeters are waaaay too cluttered for my liking, wouldn't have thought you like them if going for the 'simple, understated look'. I'm not one for designer watches, I'd rather have an expensive watch from either an ordinary brand or a lesser known to the public brand, such as IWC or Bell & Ross. You don't wear one unless you can afford it, which is why I'd like to have one if I make the right money when I'm older. I've heard of Bell & Ross, there very pricey with a "military" look to them IIRC ?

Pashley26
That looks nice ! To be honest though, as soon as you get over £500 the movements will be great quality anyway. All the rest is just a status symbol/visual enhancements. What do you make on watch weights ? I personally like to know the watch is there with a bit of weight, but not too heavy. Some people love really light watches, what sort of weight are the B&R's if you know ?
N.Wood
I like light watches, hence me owning a titanium... B&Rs are about 14 tonnes each, come up massive and are generally manly as f**k.
Pashley26
Fair enough ! I'll get a few photo's of the bits I've got knocking around, I've got about 20 key wind pocket watches too. All of them bought for -£30 from boot sales and stuff, I've got a friend who restores grandfather clocks who gives them a going over for a beer every now and then. So I'll get some photo's of them up as well

I had the 42mm PVD black one with orange markings, they are a reasonable weight, the 46mm ones are a brute though. I picked it up for about £600, not sure what kinda prices they go for atm. My IWC fliegerchronograph was a total steal too. IWC big pilot is my ultimate watch, along with an audemars royal oak. One day...
