Damon W
truth... mans pure style, all about lines and challenges and he shows how his riding is metaphor for his life, how it effects him, i guess growin up i shared these ideals, the whole riding is freedom thing, sittin at school gazin out the window thinkin bout the end of the day when i can ride, inspired by leech. so sounding like a twat to clarify, leech aint face value, his ridin stands for deep ideals and shizz, thats what makes him a great rider, the abillity to express, he aint held back cus someone can tap higher then himword
Aaron.Tottman
Good to see he's still pushing himself. hucking unreal. Some of the stuff that bloke rolls over is stupid.what i would give to ride with him.enough respect!edit: just been reading some of your oppinions...he's clearing (rolling) obstcals that 90% of the trials comunitty couldn't ever attempt without hopping for half an hour to get over it.he's made his style from how trials started as MTBtrials, in my oppinion proper trials, proving that you don't need a weightless, speicialist bike to ride trials and ride it well.himself, criss akrigg, leff lenosky, danny mac, ali c are the few riders that take trials away from this TGS, UCI world instead of pushing bounderies, their pushing style.+1 Damon Edited February 5, 2009 by Aaron.gloster
ben_travis
himself, criss akrigg, leff lenosky, danny mac, ali c are the few riders that take trials away from this TGS, UCI world instead of pushing bounderies, their pushing styleWere these the only names you could think of at the time?? What a lot of pish. Trials has and always will be a mix of variations on trials. Your post insinuates that because riders not on your list have no style, and make trials boring. Ryans style is his own, people have tried to copy it, but no-one i have seen / met has succeeded, he still hops about but he maintains fluidity. On many occasions i have watched ryans videos and thought that whilst he is doing nuts stuff on wires / rails etc, he always looks sketchy as hell riding about.in a comment not related to your post......Helmet camera for trials sucks the boabby. Mr_scott
Such an amazing rider!!I remember the days when all I ever watched was Evolve... first thing in a morning last thing at night. I actually had to buy a new one, i watched the first one that much it died. Some of the young boys need serious history lessons.Ryan Leech... average! Maybe he is average at todays standards of taps, gaps and sidehops but you only have to watch Manifesto to see he is a far better rider than any tap, gap and sidehopper! Vasil
The conclusion of the thread= Ryan Leech is cool.He made a living out of trials. He rides trials as nobody else. We go to ride after school or job. He rides trials as job. And the yoga and talking stuff?! He has a well balanced health and only intelectual people can talk like this.Total respect! Henrik Y
Ryan was one of the first trials rider I saw and as said earlier in this thread I could relate more to him because of the bike was more like mine and his riding is technical skill on "normal" bike, not extreme power jumps on a weird trials bike that you've never seen before. Ryan is not the best at trials but he is the best to make it look easy and to look like mountainbiking. It's his own style of riding that I've only seen 1 other person ride like and I would like to learn it myself.May be not awesome but inspiring and makes me want to buy a Norco.Edit:This is the bike that I started to ride trials with. And who do you think I would look at? Ryan because what he did seem to be possible to do on this bike compared to Damon W and Danny M. bikeperson45
I started on a 19" XC bike, managed to get the basics down.ryan was the first trials rider I saw and didn't even know there was bikes without seats at that time so it made it more amazing

I see the point that hes beyond TGS so saying he made it possible on a 'normal' bike compared to TGS guys on proper trials bikes like Damon W i get but then to Danny Macaskill aswell? Now this isn't a Danny Mac bumming session but hes totally different. He seems pretty unpretentious not only in his attitude and riding but also the bikes he uses/used. You've never seen him on a full spec Koxx, but messed up old Echos and fairly normal looking bikes. In that sense i kind of can compare Ryan Leech to Danny Mac in the sense that i find them similar...just normal guys having fun on slighty trials like bikes.... not holey rimmed, sub 9Kg seatless trials bikes. Just don;t think thats a fair comparison for you to draw.Thats all.

Just don;t think thats a fair comparison for you to draw.Thats all.Don't misunderstand me please! What I meant with Danny was when you see a trial video and are new to trials and have a normal MTB then a 360 up a 10step stair and double tail whips are not very inspiring(in that way that you will go out and practice on that particular thing) because it's so "far away" but Ryan's riding feels possible to learn. He shows the basics but it's still advance and the beginner feels that it's possible to learn and can go out and practise it. But as a beginner there's no way you can start with trying a 360 up a 10step stair or double tail whip.So Damon and Danny(just for example because almost everyone knows who they are) are awesome riders that shows the extreme end of the sport when Ryan also takes it to the beginners level. That was my comparison.
Stephen Morris
Ryan Leech rides what he likes and how he likes. I can't say I'm particularly enamored with his 'Manifesto' but he was better 8 years ago than 95% of the riders on this forum are now. Fo Old School but still amazing seek out Jeff Lenosky.
