Road Cycling

Cheers darls. You still in suffolk? Wouldn't mind someone to ride with once it's built.

I am. Probably will be for the next year.

Just finishing off a new road bike build at the moment, and I've got the fixed LoPro, so we should definetly hit up some asphalt when it's done.

Come to think of it, you might be better on a 56 cm because you have pretty long legs. Have a test ride on a couple, and see what feels right.

Buy this right now. Don't ask questions, just listen to me. It's a lovely frame, it's a crazy-good price, and it should fit you perfectly. I'll call 'dibs' on it if you want it, and you have the cash ready?

It's got a hanger. Meaning I can run gears? I'm not into fixi/single speed/ Would prefer something newer to to be honest. I have about £200 sitting around now.

Yeah, it's a geared racing frame. You won't find a modern frame nicer to ride than that. I promise. Steel frames still give the best ride available on the road. No question.

What'sthe difference between a older one and this for example? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120565596479&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Looking cheap as hopefully. Found a set of 'doubl spoke' Wheels? Where the nipples are at the hubs. on like £50 atm with some continental tyres and tubes.

I finally got one.

It took me a long long longggggggggggggg time to find one.

Geoff clark, a small fortune on wheels.

I've taken the mudguards off it for safe keeping, it still has the prigional brake pads with atleast 3/4 of the life left, this bike hasn't been ridden.

Something like this suit you?

Yours for reasonable price if you make an offer.

Chaps, I'm in the process of making a list of parts for my 26" road bike (mtb frame, 26" wheels with slicks, single speed) and I'm wondering what the gear ratio should be?

I'll be using a Rockman freewheel on an Echo hub so 18T it is, what about the chainring? Do you recommend any specific cranks with a single chainring? Don't want to spend too much, needs to be fairly light.

oh and it'd be good if they came in this funny system where the bb is integrated with the right crank

I'm running ummm, 44-17 i think.

So 46? it needs to be big, my build is probably exactually what your aiming for?

Neither photo does it justice, the green is slightly lighter in reality and the red is darker.

Thats what i'm riding, that photo's a bit bad.

There you go better picture with the fat saddle..

You want to be aiming for somewhere between 90 and 100 gear inches, I reckon. Look at sugino 75s or something. Really sound cranks, can pick them up for peanuts second hand. However, if you want the integrated BB ones, I had a set of FSA jobbies on my TT bike which were reduced to about £60 inc BB on chainreaction.

My superlite is almost done: full campagnolo chorus groupset (with record headset), first generation shamal wheels with continental 22mm sprinter tubs, NOS cinelli 66 bars, NOS cinelli 101 stem, colnago precisa forks. Just need to get a tab welded on the frame for the front mech, then get some cables for the brakes/gears. Going to be the most pimpin' roadbike ever built!

Who knows where I can get some wide 650c tyres??

Tubs or clinchers? I've bought 650c tubs from SJS cycles before, and the service was brilliant. I'm sure they do clinchers too.

In related news: Does anyone know where I can buy 520c clinchers? (not been made since the early 90s, but apparently there is some new old stock somewhere)
