N.Wood
Not too bad, done the London to Brighton for 5 years with no specific training at all, just riding trials then riding the ~80 miles on the weekend. (Just to note, I realise the L to B isn't 80 miles, but riding to and from the start points makes it 80)
davey1991
Bought some cheapo tyres.I thought they'd be awful but there acctually awesome. Not to heavy either.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:ITWoth a look, they have black, blue, red and i think a few more. davey1991
How she stands currently, i don't know why but i acctually adore this bike.It weighs a tonne, the paint i spent hours doing is chipped and ruined, it has spots of rust. But i love it.Its so comfortable to ride for ages, Tobias (Revolver saw) it before the re-incarnation and if he looks in here i'm sure he'll agree. The new tyres and grips go really well with the BRG i really didnt think they would, but hey they do.The rear brake is lethal sharp although could do with some new pads. What i've acctually done:Cut brake mounts of the forks.Removed centre pull guide from the frame, smoothed the welds on the forks and frame. (lightly.)Painted, froks, stem and cranks matte black.Frame and bars British racing green pearl. Will soon be removing the cable guides from the frame,Repairing chips and scratches,Filing in the small dents made by removing the brake mounts,Removing the geared freewheel for a single speed replacement.I love it, kinda hope you do to.Neither photo does it justice, the green is slightly lighter in reality and the red is darker. davey1991
Right little bit of a question session here guys. Is it possiable to convert my threaded headset to non-threaded? I believe its 1" would it be possiable to just remove it and replace with a 1" threadless and new forks? That seems a little bit to easy. If so i can't find many budget 1" threadless headsets, help? And again with 1" steerer forks?
NVWOCI WVS
WHy do you want to change them?
davey1991
WHy do you want to change them? Cheap halfords stem, anoyingly heavy forks that are bent, The frame i'm using isn't strictly a roadie and as a commuter i want to build it up to be a little lighter and maybe a bit more versatile. Anyway, I now know it can be done but what will i need?

davey1991
Headsets Stems Forks Headset, good. Stem, good. Forks, not so good. This is a commuter with MTB wheels so was looking for something like an alloy rigid fork, or maybe some short travel sus. Sam you are very helpful! 2sixstreet
Charge Single Speed http://www.chargebikes.com/products/bikes/detail2.php?id=11 Anything else worth considering for around £450 as a commuter?
davey1991
I finally got one. It took me a long long longggggggggggggg time to find one. Geoff clark, a small fortune on wheels. I've taken the mudguards off it for safe keeping, it still has the prigional brake pads with atleast 3/4 of the life left, this bike hasn't been ridden. Shaun H
Geoff clark, a small fortune on wheels. I swear paying fortunes for old bikes should be almost as uncool as collecting stamps.

In the middle of redoing the paint job, well, just raw, wire brushed then lacquered.

Just bought a giant peleton superlite frameset, and have a full campag record groupset lined up for it, and a pair of shamals on super records. edit: I can now see, it's a flyer. Not bad! Unfortunately it's not a flyer, it's a lame ass Create... but no one will know that once I've finished sorting out the frame and the other bits. Then maybe other people will all think it's a flyer like you did
