Sram Power Link

My experience with joining links is this.

I used to use wipperman links on my stock. They were fine running a 22 tooth front cog. They would last for roughly 6 months then snap while riding along (bizaarly never when on the rear wheel...?). So as long as I replaced the link every few months all was well.

Then I changed mt gearing to 18-16. I started breaking wipperman links really quick. Two times I broke a new one within 1 hour of fitting it.

After this I stopped runing them, and started running sram links. They lasted longer. Maybe 3 months?

Now I ride mod and just join my chain and leave it. I no longer have any reason to break my chain. Therefore my recomendation is this

- If you run a 22 on the front, use a wipperman cause its easy to get apart. Just change it every 6months.

- If you run an 18 up front, use a sram link and replace it pretty regularly

- If you ride a mod you shouldn't need to break the chain regularly so don't use a joiner.

Hope that helps

Unless you're on a KMC in which case they're great, no matter what people say!

Joining normally removes the mushroomed head to the pin, making it weaker and more likely to give

I'm running a split link and a half link with no issues at all, and have been for quite some time ;)

Sram links suck ass though

The reason many people hate opening SRAM powerlinks is because they don't understand how they work. I've got powerlinks off peoples' bikes with my bare hands in seconds after they've been cursing them for not opening when they try. The trick is to squeeze the side plates together in the direction of the pins (Sometimes you have to wiggle the chain around each pin to clear grit out of the pivots if its muddy) before sliding the link apart...

thank you guys, it really helped me, I hope the chain won't brake at leas in the next 3 months, then i will change it just for my security... somebody told me that I should change the chain every 3 months so i will use the powerlink and hopefully i will see the fatigue before it brake's.

Cheers!
