eskimo
I think vee is good if you like bite, power and less weight. But for general stopping, slowing down and modulation vees suck. Also the vees that have play in them allow more bite. Also from what Ali was saying about the SD7 having more power it's probably because the Ultimate arm doesn't allow as much flex as the forged SD7 so it holds the rim better.SO if you like your vees then an Ultimate may be a good upgrade, it's lighter and requires less maintenance which is always good. I'd only buy one for now though, to see if you like it or not.
Jitters
Good info in here.I have scrapped my idea of running the Juicy Ultimates on my stock build for vees, as I turned those around for a mint on Ebay. I can use the money from that sale for more goodies. Also vee parts are easily available over here, and I like the on/off switch for braking.Sort of a hijack here, but are there some readily available (new) forks still around specifically for stock vee setup? I see lots of disc and 4 bolt ones available and am trying to avoid the adapters and extra parts as much as possible. Thanks for any input! eskimo
Viz are real good, quite long though. Echo also do their Control and Urban forks with vee mounts. To be honest allot of companies released vee mounting forks. Shame Trialtech didn't as they seem to be 'on the ball' with parts.
sstein
I run planet X forks that have a vee and disc mount. They are not the lighest forks around but I will never change them for anything as they are super stiff and indestructible. Quite expensive for old forks though, mine cost £60 but they were marked up as £100. Have a look on CRC, there are loads of V-forks. The Gusset Jury forks look pretty similar to mine, try them! NVWOCI WVS
cant beat a front 203 bb7, with avid pads, roundagon rotor and sd7 lever in my opinion I've had that exact setup, and I've also had an XTR vee brake with XTR lever and Plaz CRV pads on the front. That beats the BB7 for bite and hold, but I always end up going back to a BB7, just feels right for me.
Jitters
Thanks eskimo and sstein,I'll look into those. Checked with Tarty too. Definitely running with vees and gonna try something with a smooth rim/Plazmatic CRVs or Rocks first before I go grinding, otherwise I'll switch back to my Moe's with a good grind like on the mod.Cheers!
