Simpson
The barbican has its own police don't they? Like techy security guards who take no shit and issue fines?Remember 20 of us all following chai though barbican, being chased pedaling like madmen down little alleys and tight turns! When only Chai knew the back way out! That was quality! Mental.
onzatrip
The police move us on a lot in London, even when there are only two or three of us. I have to say though I have only been threatened with a fine once and I think the max they can give is £30. I am trying my hardest to get off work so I can come to this! lol just tell work that you were in a terrible accident and you need the day off and a couple from my end not coming now as parents wont let one of them and hes 18 and other he says its not his kinda thingim defo coming getting the rex tomorow
Jack Chinnery
Metro London liteThe gaurdianThe Times Mayor of londonThe StandardTime OutDaily MailThe ExpressThe independantThe sunExtrem TVBBC All contacted and more being contacted. That should get our sport some recognition. Lets hope we lead by example and with the coverage and each rider's council to back biketrial parks. Aim High and at least try. Im so going to try and get Reading one after this. There will be a map given out at 11am to all the riders with all the hot spots on it. So if a spot is over crowded and you cant ride it then you can find plenty of the other spots. Trust me there are loads of spotsThe pro riders are going to be in abundance you can always watch the best of trialsI have some really interesting gossip but im just confirming it and then i will release it. Nick Manning
Hey buddy, on saturdays and sunday's you do not have to pay to drive into London, so don't worry about that. As for hotels try Travel Lodge or Premier Travel Inn these hotels cost around £50 per night for the room, and can easily take 4 adults in 1 room. Prices may vary depending on where you stay.As for riding on saturday, I would love to come out and ride as I will be in the London area, but Unfortunately I have a selection day to attend for an apprenticeship. Never mind, I shall see you on the sunday, unless you all fancy coming to Reading and riding there on saturday night. Reading isn't far from London at all. Mark W
Just as a heads up - we got 9 people in a 2 person room in Travellodge Wandsworth. Good times. I slept under a desk, random fact. The police, especially City Police (The dudes who patrol the Barbican, St.Pauls, and anything inside the actual City of London) can give you up to a £70 fine on the spot, so I wouldn't dick about with them too much. To be honest, the Barbican's barely worth going to if there's a small group of you so you might get a bit of time there, let alone a massive group. It'll just be a waste of time, especially with how long it takes to mobilise 200 riders. Most trials rides I've been on with 20> people tend to take ages to get going from spot to spot, so I'd avoid 'iffy' spots if you can. For that reason, I'd probably leave out St.Pauls too seeing as there's plenty of other good places to ride, but the lure of the standard white ledges will no doubt be too much for some. City Police are generally fully on it these days anyway - on the few occassions we haven't just ridden away, the City Police dudes who we've come across have generally been tracking us on CCTV for all the time we're in the City, so it's basically a full-on no go. Elsewhere I've never had hassle, and even if I'm on the N-side and they give me grief they generally just tell me to go ride Southbank or just south of the river in general.Still on my 100% no-fine clean sheet, hopefully that'll last a bit longer too... JackMeek
Hi Peeps, HOT OF THE PRESS GILLES COUSTELLIER'S COACH FRANK MARTINI CONFIRMED TO COME. I have been in talks with Franck Martini and he is coming to londons biggest trials street ride. Many might of heard of this name. This is one of the reasons why Gilles Coustellier has become a monster of a rider and made noticable gap between him and the top riders in the world for 2008 gone. franck martini is a coach in physical and mental preparation of high-level athletes in extreme sports coaching of which n°1's world UCI Trials rider is Gilles coustellier. Unfortunately Gilles is not coming. Who knows though. This ride is getting bigger by the day. Franck Martini presence is not quite clear yet due to not so hot translating in our emails. I gather he would like to do a speach on some of the secrets to what can make you a rider like gilles.YES YOU. He also is publishing a book about his successes with the techniques. He made a comment, he is looking for more potential atheletes to train in trials. Not necessarily just compition. He is very interested in pushing the limits of what riders can do. He likes the idea of TGS as it pushes those moves to the extreme. This is very recent this news but he wanted me to let you all know of his presence at the london ride. He will have a badge on with Fanck martini and is very keen to talk to people about it if they spot him and want to chat about stuff. Im speaking to him first. Ha Ha Ha start to make a que. Take Care. Jack Meek.
