mountian goat
Hey just bought my first freeride DH set up (santa cruz bullit) rides beast!!!.Just started to get some balls and tryed some drops off and jumps. Is it better to have the rear suspension hard or soft when doing drop offs?.Sorry if you dont like me posting this in a trials forum but i have tried diffrent forums and they are all rubbish and all the people on them are so unhelpfull and annoying. I use this forum for everything because the people on here are realy helpfull and generaly seem like nice people. i will use this post for all my freeride needs Cheers lee.x
davey1991
It depends. If your going for mainly speed you can run it soft. This will keep rear wheel locked to the floor and also soften landings of drops and jumps. If your doing tricks running the shock harder will allow you to get more height. This will also make the bike more twitchy and bouncy to ride.#Hope i've helped. NVWOCI WVS
Suspension set-up is much more complicated than running it hard or soft. What do you even mean by that?
Fixed Pants™
Think he's got an airshock yasee. It's ALL about getting 30% sag from the shock, and a rebound that's not springy when you bounce on the seat, but not slow enough to not follow your arse. Gavyn.
if your just riding about for fun and your not worried about pace etc then just go with whatever feels right. you ideally want a setup for twisty, rooty and rocky sections and one for the big hits and drop offs but if you have both of these conditions on one run, which you will, then you can't really stop and change the set up. so you should find what feels right in all conditions set it like that and keep it so you get used to it. The Stig
15-30% sag is the main setup You can adjust rebound to get a better feel as well.
