pudding
Front or back brake?Your best bet for the spec of the bike is a Magura Hs33. They are hydraulic brakes which hold alot better than vee brakes. They're great brakes on the front or the back! You can find these brake at www.tartybikes.co.uk . And I think off the top of my head they're about £65 pound, but they're defintely worth it.
Ali C
Vees actually have more power but require more maintenance and have less bite, but the sheer holding power is amazing!
steve@banbury-trials
They are hydraulic brakes which hold alot better than (cheap nasty standard on cheap bikes)vee brakes. if people are willing to pay out vee brakes they are very very good ,i much prefer vee's too magura because of the sheer hold they have (as mentioned by ali),plus there are a number of other positive qualities with vee's.steve

Alex@Flawless Bikes
I would say vee as the are have a much stronger hold but if you get a good vee your looking at £80ish so HS33 is a good all rounder
Gogz-
vee's can be good if you set them up 100% and got the correct pads cables etc etc and so do magura ha33's and most other brakes if you get them set up just right If your v good at setting up v's then go for it . kjd4000
Another vote for for hs33s, much better than v-brakes IMO.
Jack Chinnery
Another vote for for hs33s, much better than v-brakes IMO.Vee's can be equally good and/or even better than maggies.
kjd4000
Depending on how much you want to spend i suppose. As i said in my opinion i find hs33s to be the best, easy to set up easy to bleed well worth £100 of anyones money. I just have never got on with v-brakes. bigamac
It's not a debate out of which one is better he only asked what vee to get.Yes both maggie and vee have good and bad points, in my opinion it all comes down to rider preference. And as it is only a bird then he might as-well stay with a vee, unless they come with 4-bolt mounts? What part of the vee did you brake? Then have a look on tartybikes and see what you like. Also as i'm guessing this guy is a beginner? then he wont need top notch parts. MattJ92
I use HS33 for almost everything. Even on the back of my DJ bike. I break discs to quickly and Hydros almost always feel alot better than cable brakes.
t-bird tom
Was you running v on the rear if you were then you should get hs33
onza_basher
its the back brakeI would say a Magura hs33 there only about £60 and u get i think 3-5 years leak warrenty with them. Then just get a nice set of pads I use onza Limes and i get on really well with them.
