I was well into it when I was younger then gave it up when I started trials. Teaches you valuable life lessons aswell as how to protect yourself which is pretty decent.

I'm all for people learning aslong as it's for the right reasons but the thugs who seem to have taken over the local club annoy me, i just wish they'd f**k off back to boxing or something.

Stick in though mate and just remember it's not all about the fighting the life skills and self control are equally important.

i wanted to get back into karate but just never got around to it lol, good way spending time with my mum as well sparing with her, brother goes gym with her. mum told me about the defence bit as well i get to spend a whole day of self defence as well (getting out of holds etc) at my grading

I did Korean Karate for 4 years, but I raped my knee and had to stop :( Realy enjoyed it and got upto purple belt, which is 2 below black.

Pretty much same for me, except I was doing Judo.

Problem I had was I could be graded any higher than purple because my tutor didn't have the correct licenses so I would have had to go elsewhere.

I did it at school every tuesday and thursday evening, my license has expired now I think. But yeah, it was pretty good :)
