The Hitcher
Hello everyone, basically i am sick and tired of my rear rim brake its driving me mental i can never set it up right i buckle my rim and then it rubs, and i am now constantly bleeding the damn thing because i stupidly bought a echo tr lever and wish i hadn't now. Im hopping tarty will take it back because the seals don`t work properly on it, so i want the echo cnc back. Any way i was wondering weather disks are any good on the back of a 26" hydroxx ? I run a rear disk on my echo lite 20" and it seems ok but you just don`t get the bight like you do on a rim brake. So if any of you have experience of having a disk brake on a 26" please lets here your comments. Thanks, C.A
psycholist
Mathematically you'll need a 208mm rotor to get the same hold on a 26" tyre as a 160mm rotor on a 20" tyre. I'd need to change frame to do it, but I'm giving some thought to dual disk on my next 26" bike too, having tried Hope trial disks on a friend's mod... Muel
I've just got a maggy for my Stock, I had a 180mm mono trial for ages, and I just couldn't get on with it. On a stock wheel the whole rear of the bike feels too flexy, (Although Kot frames are flexy anyway), and it didn't bite enough for my liking, and it was really heavy towards the rear. With a FFW, a stiff frame and a 200mm rotor it would be a big improvement though I reckon. Greetings
No point. Discs are really nice on mods but due to wheel flex, they're useless on 26" bikes. You'll find it very difficult to get used to. I got a pair of 8" Hopes a few weeks ago and took them off after 45 minutes of riding.

Matt Vandart
Hmm, I was just about to post asking this question as I am in the middle of making a rear disk bracket for my (Pink) Zoot ll I have made the bracket just havn't welded on yet.Is there anyone out there that uses a disk on the rear as preference to rim?If someone does and they think that it is better could you tell me before I get the Oxy-fuel bottles out?Matt
