sstein
How long does a grind normally last? I run a sharp grind and I re-grind whenever it gets to the point that my brake slips when I hop to rails (even if it is in the wet). Obviously I don't grind it if it is just the odd slip, but when I feel that the hold has weakened then out comes the grinder. Anyway I seem to be loosing grip quicker these days.I am using an echo rim that is on it's 2nd or 3rd grind.

Luke Rainbird
I grind around every 2 weeks...whereas I regrind maybe once or twice a year. It depends on so many different things, such as rim, pads, how much use you're getting from it, riding style, type of grind etc that it's hard to put a se figure to it. Redoing it as and when it's needed is the way to go, since it's generally pretty apparent when performance starts to deteriorate
0zzy
I grind around every 2 weeksf**k what type of grinds that though? and how many rims you go through a year?
Jason222
If you grind at a harsh angle (70-90 degrees to the rim) and put a lot of pressure into it, you wont have to regrind as often. I used to put light/sharp grinds on (at a shallow angle) and they'd only last me a few days to a week. I put a harsh grind in my rim in September and I haven't ground since. Ali C
f**k what type of grinds that though? and how many rims you go through a year?Thats a light but sharp grind. I think I'll use maybe one or two rims in a year, depends if I bash them really, but I get them through sponsorship, so thats one less thing for me to worry about. sstein
So 2 months per grinds isn't that bad. I run rock blues with the occassional bit of tar and I ride more pure trials than streety stuff, Up, Over and Off no manuals or sh*t. forteh
Ive just had to regrind my rear rim after 3 months, was last done at the beginning of october. Was a sharp medium grind (disk at a shallow angle) and lasted well up until the last couple of weeks where it just stopped biting and holding. I havent been riding a huge amount recently due to injuries and lack of time though so I would expect to have to regrind every 6-8 weeks or so when riding full time DX32 with heatsink reds.
