16 years later
Right im running my cranks with a bash ring that the chain ring bolts on to, I've always had this style. So my question is if i get new cranks, with a bash ring that does not have a chain ring that you bolt to it. Would i just get the cranks, slide the bashring on and then put a screw on sprocket on. Is it the screw on sprocket that holds the bashring in place, or something else? Sorry for the noob question and I hope you can understand what im on about. Thanks Bruce. Revolver
I think often the bashring just slides on.
RossMcd
the bashring slides on and the sprocket holds it in place

Revolver
Yeah, it doesn't matter if it spins, which it probably won't as there's that much pressure on it from the sprocket.
