Alex Dark
maxxis minion are usually the most popular choice nowadays.....or for a bit of weight loss; the continental runner queen?

Adam T.
If You don't mind the weight, use try-all tire on the rear: grippy and good puncture protection. I use it with a maxxis dh inner tube and I hadn't got a puncture for 3 months.
lankyri
atm im running a rubbish bike hut tire its good for not getting pinches but not enough grip if im honest the maxxis minions are good but dont they weigh like a tone heard good things from the rubber queen (continental) also the try all tire is good but there not so good if you have to ride long distances as my mates had worn down in a couple of weeks as he was riding to and from everywhererubber queen or minion/ hi roller

Ali C
Maxxis were the tyre of choice, but now continental are bringing out some REALLY good tyres that walk all over maxxis!if you want to save weight, get the rubber queen. If you want the ultimate grip and puncture protection, wait for the rain king or De Krauser, they are stupidly good! streetjibs
totally agree with Ali....but, beware the Rubber Queen doesnt fit in all frames - very large profile!check first if possible

Muel
The Rubber Queen is bigger than a front tread Minion, and it just about fits in my Kot MS2 frame. Rubs when the frame flexes over. These are supposed to be fantastic though. Linky.

Linky.single ply though...so no real use to most of us Any decent tyres, dual ply, same or better grip than maxxis, lighter than maxxis for around £20?Ive found some but he real issue always seems to be either the compund being too hard or th sidewalls being too thin, thus giving tonnes of punctures...A good tyre for the the front though is the specialised 2bliss....big profile, mid compound, a lot lighter than a high roller...... Ross Gardner
Michelin Mountain A.T.! I've been running this tyre (along with a Hutchinson Air light front Tyre - just 550g!) for little over a month on both Street and Natural. This tyre offer's alot of grip on all obstacles, especially, I've found with Sidehops and Taps. It also weighs just 999g which is an added bonus! With it being dual ply, it also combats against pinch flats. I haven't had a puncture yet. They're available here!. Adam@TheMontyShop is a nice guy, he'll probs throw in some tar and stickers! You'll get your order next day too. Hope this helps Edited January 20, 2009 by Ross Gardner
