Gogz-
OK i was going through my cupboard the other day and found an old hope disc brake .. seeing as it was all rusty and manky inside i thought id take it apart and give it a clean , which was a really good idea up till the point where i had finished cleaning it and thought lets put it back together and blead it ..... problem being it dosnt seem to bleed the same way as the newer hope discs.I'm having trouble finding out what it is so i can start searching up on how to bleed it, the only distinguishing thing on it is that it has hope 0 on the calliper , this brake is so old i cant remember getting it 2nd hand. If any one knows what I'm going on about and knows how to bleed it or knows of a site that will help id much appreciate it . I will try getting some picks if that would help people. Jamie_Neal
Picture would help or possibly try your local bike shop.I know that the C2 (if your brake is that old) needed to be bled under pressure and required a couple of extra bits and bobs to do it. Just runs of a car wheel thats fully inflated! (Just make sure you don't use your parents car, they tend to get abit angry when they find they have a flat wheel. hehe)P.S Bring the caliper with you on sunday and ill have a look at it for you! Log in using your store password and username and then download the manual for it. Surely one of you lot should beable to tell which brake it is? psycholist
I've used that kit with a bike tyre instead of a car tyre and it's fine - take the pressure down under 30 PSI first though. It can be done as easily with a syringe though I like the adaptor that kit comes with to fit an outlet pipe to the lever reservoir.

psycholist
That's a closed system brake (No reservoir, so all the fluid in the brake is pressurised when the lever is pulled). Bleed like Magura rim brakes rather than like you bleed most disks...
Alex Dark
either immerse the brake, or use a pressure system like the aboveyou can use a car clutch bleeder to achieve this though

Gogz-
P.S Bring the caliper with you on Sunday and ill have a look at it for you! So do i need one of these kits then to bleed it ?. Because i cant work out how its going to work . This might help .... It looks as if it would be bled in the same way as a hew hope as it only has the one valve on the calliper and the reservoir. when me and 3dd was trying to bleed it it looked as if there was no oil going i to the system. there looks as if there is rust in the little hole in the reservoir. " P.S Bring the caliper with you on Sunday and ill have a look at it for you! " sorry i just noticed what you had said.
