eskimo
I know there's been similar topics but i'd like to make a poll for this one. I'm curious to see how many of you are really happy with the selection of frames on the market. I personnally see allot of options for bars, stems, drivechain, brakes etc. but feel we're really lacking in frame choice. I know we just have to wait until trials is bigger before things move quicker, as lets be fair street trials is way less than 10 years old.I'm not asking for anything is particular apart from the poll answers, but frame ideas is always good to hear. (i know we've probably heard them all, but post away if you hadn't voiced or read your idea before).A few reasons to why i ask the question; (you've probably heard before)I'd like to see verticle dropouts on mod. With a tensioner that meets the requirements met. I haven't used one yet. Why Inspired chose the road of pick a frame that works and apply 24" geo. Like we know the frame design works, but add onto it like Heatsink did. No direct dig but i'm surprised there wasn't a horizontal dropout system and optional mounts.Other companies like DOB, in the way that they don't just copy each other but add some other idea. Like different material, yeah it didn't work for most people but some people are okay with it.Koxx not taking us into consideration.I suppose i could go on really but i know the reason for all the above points is money.Anyway, thanks. Ben John-Hynes
I voted for the 2nd option, as I don't tend to buy frames as frequently as I buy anything else. And when I do look for a frame, I look on certain online stores, but I also look on here to see if any other frames are going cheap. Which then means I can purchase a slightly older frame that isn't on any online stores, so the choice is wider. I see what you're saying about the different options/set-ups of different frames and agree with it all the way, and I think one day it will happen. But until it does, even though I don't think it'll affect me much, I'll more than cope with what's available now..
Ross McArthur
I also see what youre getting at. Like 26" Frames which have 116mm drop outs but no other option! It must be hard for small companies to come up with such variation though to suit everyones needs and wants.I also think though that there is plenty of options out there, if you can afford it that is. Skoze
I know it's still very new, but I would love to see more 24" frames/ forks on the market. When i was looking to make the change from a stock, there really is nothing there. There's the Inspired, a small possibility of a 24uk ( i could never get hold of Steve to enquire about one). So the choice of two frames.I know the Ashton's coming, and so's the 24bicycles rig, but theres still a maximum of about 5 frames to choose from, all of which have their drawbacks. And there are no 24" mount forks, unless you go second hand. It's more me just moaning about a fairly new thing, so feel free to dismiss it Edited January 6, 2009 by Skoze
ben_travis
i would imagine alot of this also comes down to the fact that ALOT of people within trials could not tell you what geo / frame style they want if you asked them out right. If i were to design my own frame the geo would probably be as follows71.5 / 72 head angle,1090 - 1095 wheel base (horizontal dropouts)380 - 385 chainstay (horizontal dropouts)+35 bbhowever i know that this geo would not be appropriate to my liking of spins / streety stuff, so i couldnt specify a specific geo for that or find one that allows me to do everything i want to be able to do as big or as far as i would like.As such, companies have to cater for generic tastes, this is a hard thing considering the cost of manufacturing a frame. I imagine that companies are not making quite the superbly large profits off riders that we would like to think. hmmm i am not sure i have answered anything you have asked
andyb
I find it annoying that bb's in stock frames seem to be getting lower again. If i could pick a stock frame geo i would have: WB 1080, BB +65, stays 385, head 71.5.Mod geo would have to be : Koxx XTP2 long, its perfect, except maybe a higher bb would be nice.Andy B

ogre
i'd love a 24" with tgs geo + appearance smaller wheels would save a bit of weight and make it abit flickier, like a big mod. but with a bit more stability from the larger wheels. someday it'll happen, but not untill 24"s are used in competitions meaning the big names will have an interest in making them. Dan S
I'm pretty satisfied with the stuff on the market now, but I'd like to see something else apart form Monty and Koxx, and China, copying them.
aener
A bit more variation/choice in the 24" realms would be nice - but I reckon if there was TOO many more than we currently have, shit'd get a tad confusing.
Ash-Kennard
everythings the same, the only real revelations are in the 24" market
Alex Dark
everythings the same, the only real revelations are in the 24" marketnot really...plus the inspired and 24-uk are hardly innovative IMO...theyre just zebdi's with jacked bb height and moved brake mounts....its a common frame shape that's 24" specific...exciting... vinco, damgerboy, boxx , kamel etc are innovative IMO
