Simpson
Ok well matey boy seems to have given a good reveiw but ill givr my opinion on the pads- I put these on my inspired, with a dead grind, and have really felt the need to go to all the effort to take the wheel out and grind it because there is so much power and reliability from the pads that it really is not nessecary, they hold amazing in all conditions, even today when i submerged my wheel in water, after a quick drag of the brake the honk came back which feels you with confidence that the brake is working. The backings are amazing fit perfectly and dont have any play, and as said the dont vibrate in the calipers like the rimjams (and other poorly designed) CNC'ed backings do. If i have to offer a negitive to the pads would only be the sound they make, I'm riding a 24" street machine and would prefer a scilent brake, but I wouldn't use anything else purley due to the unrivaled perforformace these pads offer, the only pads i could compare them to would be heatsink reds, but seem to be a more durable compound, its so refreshing finally finding a brake set up that you put on... and then can completly forget about without f**king arround with it every other week. So yea if you want silent pads don't bother, if you want amazing pads, then do and mikes a nice bloke
Dave Anscombe
these pads are just like the ones me and ali use at the momentexcept the bite and hold isnt as good. explain ?im unshure weather to get theese even with all the good feedbacksimply because heatsink reds always come in to my mind Edited April 5, 2009 by mrkoxx
Shaun H
Not as mind blowing as everyone seems to be suggesting but definitely one of the best pads I've ever used. Will probably stick with these pads for the forseeable future. The only pad that compares to it is HS Reds. I found initially Phat pads are excellent but the performance levels off a fair bit as the grind wears down which I feel Reds didn't do quite so much. But definitely my favourite pad out atm since Reds aren't produced any longer.EDIT: Forgot to mention; Still waiting to test them in the wet which could swing it back although it'll be difficult! thewoomaster
Did read it was hoping others may have have tryed them or for abit more feedback about them on a smooth rim.
nek0
These or plaz crms?It wouldn't be fair to compare with a CNC backings vs. CRM's, not saying plastic backings suck because the CRM's I used few years ago were quite amazing. When the TNN/Plaz CRM's come out it will be more interesting
Otacon
Well that just put the big spanner in the works ......like i said previous to your post.heatsink reds were the ones.....since they are no longer made il have to try theese ones outSteve ........big mistake on killing of the hsb red pads Daveeee, his new Heatsink Yellow compound is far better than his Red, I brought some of the yellow compound, took my phat pads out my cnc backings, stuck this yellow pad in, wasn't really expecting much of these pads to be honest, so whacked them on with the same medium dead grind as i was running before and shit the bed, pisses all over my phat phat, louder, loads more bite and doesn't slip one bit, also work amaizng on smooth and anodized rims....Lets put it this way, aslong as this compounds avaliable, I wont run anything else. Phatmike
Actually Connor, I recently received a limited edition batch of anodised black backings. I'm just waiting on a new battery charger (my camera bag was stolen whilst at koxx days), then I'll be able to get some pictures up and announce them officially! Thanks everyone for the great feedback on the pads, a message from Andy P earlier brought a lil' smile to my face;'By the way, the pads are awesome. And it's making me ride my bike'Can't ask for much more than that!
Connor Powell
Well im not telepathic so i couldn't have known this is the part where i found out its been said in a previous page haha. Black backings sound awsome, They going to be the same price or a tiny bit more expensive than the normal silver ones?

walker
Having ridden with a variety of different pads in the past I can honestly say that these are the best pads that i have ever used. The stoppoing power is amazing, and they carry on working on a shagged grind. If you put them on and they dont work too well, just give your rim a fresh grind and they will bed in very quickly and continue to be awesome even when the grind wears down.Andrew

walker
You say that, but the addition of a booster to my MBK had absolutely no effect on the braking noise...
Ali C
but your brake had wank hold when I tried it without a booster, I BET a booster helped with the hold, but maybe reduced the bite.
walker
yes, you're not wrong, but i was just on about the noise
