leotrialp
Hello, i´m Leonardo, from Argentina , and my bike is too heavy, it weights like 14kg (14000grs), and the last time than i build it, i felt it heavier (and its heavier ). Even so, i love it...but...is a home made frame of steel, and it weights 2.6kg(2600grs) aproximatly, so it´s heavy haha...my front rim full built up weights 2.3kg (2300grs), so it isn´t light, and my fork is of CRO-MO 4130, and weights 1.4kg(1400grs)...my rear rim is a vzan v trial, with a intense DH 2.35 (2.44 realy), my cranks are a shimano alivio 98" (heavyer but stronger), with one pair of diamondback pedals, a modified and reinforcered hub and with bearings too with a 18 bmx sprocket modified, and my stem and handlebar are ZOOM 31.8(works very well)... so....what can i do to it???i want to drill it but i don´t want to lose too much resistance...and i want to do it because i have 2 months to work in it because i broke my fot (like you can see in the pictures below )...i broke a bone below of a finger, and the thumb finger in 2 parts, but isn´t appreciate...I have 3 nails now , they lined the bone, and they put the nails, like in the pic below... thanks for read this topic and sorry about my english Edited January 5, 2009 by leotrialp

Muel
First I'd change the forks for some Echo Control or SL forks, that would loose you 550g.Then I'd get a lighter front wheel, I think mine is about 1700-1800g from memory, so that's another 600g.The next heaviest thing is probably the frame and rear wheel. Lewis-Trials
Nice bike mate, I sugest you get the drill out and drill the rear wheel, And other place's where its unlikely to crack easier.

Muel
I managed to save 60g by drilling 7mm holes in my front rim, and the gaps between the holes are like 5mm.He wants to loose a lot of weight fast, when your bike weighs 14kg, even loosing half a kilo won't make much difference. RETROLEO
Looks a very nice frame, but if its homemade then guess you wont want to be swapping that? That might be your problem! You could drill the frame to loose some of the wight instead of getting a new one. E.g. down the top tube and bottom tube. Also cut some noble's of your tires although this does not loose much. Hope you take some of this into consideration, and use the tips found help full. Leo. Edited January 6, 2009 by RETROLEO

Leo.TXS for the tips ....Just order from tartybikes, theyl post it to you.my problem is the money than it cost to me, because in here, a frame cost a lot, and the "post" too, so isn´t cheap, that´s why I want to drill it ...
