Nickkkkk
hiyya, keeping it simple there is an axle running through the bike (bottom bracket/BB) which the the crank arms fit onto. The crank arms are fastened to the bottom bracket by 2 bolts ( 1 on either side ). Have a go at fastening these mate... if need be it is best to replace the the arms and the BB ( not just a new BB vice versa ) and tighten 2-3 times a week. P.S the clicking could be anything from a snapped frame to dirt in the BBHope this helps you abit Nick
Andrew Willis
HiMine does the same on my DMRProbs need a new bb, it may not sound good but mines still rideable.Andy
Dan6061
Square taper or ISIS? Either way, try taking both cranks off and giving the BB axle and crank tapers a good clean. Sometimes dirt can get into it, and crunches up and makes weird sounds when you pedal. If it's not that, could be a rounded taper (if it's square taper) or damaged bearings on the BB. J Trials 31
Hey anybody know what to do if your crank keeps coming loose as you ride? Do you think I'm just not tightening it up enough or something?
Andrew Willis
your bb might be too short mate check to see how long the axel is for it
George ZHI
Yer, BB most proubly, mine did it all the time. But then it randomly stopped one day and its fine now
Merchathon2k8
I have had another look at it and it looks to be the freewheel that is moving a bit. Is it worth getting another crank? Hears what I had in mind from select bikes...Echo Urban CNC cranks-Colour: Blue, Echo bashring-Colour: Blue and Echo ISIS bb. What do you all think? Thanks for your advice so far Or i forgot the Echo ACS Claws Welded (freewheel)
Andrew Willis
If its all echo related then there shouln't be a problem with it make sure your bolts are extra tight, if it keeps doing i reccomend replace the bb:)

Dan6061
Hey anybody know what to do if your crank keeps coming loose as you ride? Do you think I'm just not tightening it up enough or something?ISIS or square taper? If it's square taper, you've probably rounded the crank slightly, so it doesn't grip the BB axle properly. Either bodge it with some small cut up coke can pieces, or get some new cranks! If it's ISIS, just try cleaning/de-greasing the axle, and the crank. Clean the threads too, and then put some loctite on the bolt, and get it torqued up to the appropriate setting. - Can't remember it exactly, ask your local bike shop if they're good. I think I got it fixed. I don't think I had it tightened up enough. Rode it for about an hour and it didn't come loose again.

I'd keep the allen key/whatever tool for it with you when you're riding though, because if you ride around with the crank loose you'll ruin the taper in the cranks! And you reaaally don't want to be doing that!

sam-b-p
mate it could be the inside of your pedal needs tightening , that could be what is causeing the noise...sam

Guest
Hi If this is a reoccuring topic (your crank arm becoming loose) then use lock tite its is super glue but for bikes, But on the other hand you will have to use a LOT of force to undo the crank arm, or you could use gafa tape to pad the thread out so it tightley fits in the the crank arm and if its a bodge job u need use a wrapper like my freind did on my bike wrap the wrapper around the thread TIGHTELY then tighten up. this should work if not go to a local decent bike shop and see what they say and try and do it your self (DIY)
shamus
In essance.... check for loose thingsEspecially play in bearings like in the pedals as mentioned above, another area to examine is the bb, the biggest thing to look for is lateral movement - grab the cranks by the pedal area and wiggle in and out. if they move away from the centreline of the frame then the bb is wasted! If your cranks have play in them (should notice this by one side having much more movement then the other) and you can afford it, then replace them and the bb (while your at it you may as well and this stops a worn bb ruining your cranks.)hope that helped, and stay away from the ACS lol, tensiles are good, thats what i'd go for only ever heard good things and my mates is epic!(just thought, check there that interferes with the cranks rotation, like something which catches (my cranks were catching my maggy body so i had to get a longer axle)
