Ashley-Wood
i know the 32hole rim wheel be stronger but having a 28hole will it make it lighter? also is the spoke pattern the same? pictures would be nice thanks. x
eskimo
It's 4x times lighter than one spoke and one nipple. So if your using normal spokes and stainless/ brass nipples then it's a fair weight saving. The lacing can be done 3x also. I think 28h might be too weak for a 200mm rotor on stock but with rim brake it's fine. I had a try-all rim in 28h on stock and that was really good. JonMack
You're looking at about 1g per brass nipple and 4.5g per spoke (based on 186mm spoke). So yeah you could save yourself upto 20g, add to the fact that the drilled holes should be bigger, due to larger spoke spacing, means you could save a decent amount of weight. Jamie East
I had a try-all rim in 28h on stock and that was really good.Likewise, used mine with a maggura, was perfect never buckled atall. Always wondered why people would have 32 hole front rims, but suppose when you think about the stresses and forces of a disc brake it may make sense. Bigman
What front rim are you planning on using, alot of people forget that if you go for a 28h front drilled rim it will actualy be heavier than a 32h front drilled rim (example a try-all) as there may be 4 less spokes, but then it means that there is 4 less large holes, a good example is a try-all rear, the difference between a 36h and 32h one is that the 32h tends to be around 40g heavier!personaly i would go for 32h just for the extra strenght, and the slight weight advantage, of course if it is not a drilled rim you are going for 28h will be lighter.Adam
