Firefox renders better (IMO), has better plugins, can do more things out of the box, looks nicer and is easier to use.

On the downside, it's badly built and buggy as foooook.

All my opinions, not facts. I use both browsers every day for 8 hours at work (sometimes, when I'm testing), but cba to find real evidence.

I used both for a while as well. I found that Firefox just wasn't as quick as Chrome on loading pages and was too buggy, I think Chrome looks nicer and is very simple to use. But that is just what I felt.

The plugins for Firefox are definitively better though, occasionally I have to go back to FF for that very reason.

Best prog for encrypting pen drives??

Why dropbox? Only good if you have Internet access!

Truecrypt.org I would recommend

I have an Advent 7204 laptop that i was given. It recognises the original hd and the spare i have, yet when i try to install windows, it claims there is no drive. I have tried to find drivers but the only one i can find keeps insisting on using a floppy disc...

What can i do? Both of the hds work on my pc when i connect them up (using the guts of an external drive case) and have been fully formatted. I have tried installing windows with the laptop and a pendrive, but it doesnt let me. As you may be able to tell, im not massively good with computers :P

Go into BIOS, configuration, hard drive and change from APCI to Compatibility. May solve your problem, although usually you won't get far in the installation process if this is the issue...certainly worth a try though.

Not strictly true, as you store a local copy of your files as well. All it means is you have to sync that computer as soon as you return to an internets to avoid conflicts, which is handles anyway.

When im playing team fotress 2 and I have music on in the background, if say, i shoot my gun, the music goes quiet. it's like teamfrotress 2 has more power in terms of who plays sound. And id much rather have my music over the sound of gunfire etc.

I'm using winamp, some sexy lil graphics card and 5.1 surround sound if that makes any difference.

Any ideas?

Get Chrome.

I'm sure there's a way you can fix FF, but why bother?

I'd rather fix it somehow. But I can't find anyone who has the same problem or a fix to it? Google shows lots of topics from 2009/2010...

Not really related to computers but anyway. I'm about to replace my phone screen and the seller has listed this item. But it says something about "had one dead point"

At the bottom of the lsiting someone has asked the same question but it means absolutely nothing to me? Does anyone know? Thanks.

Ahhh. I payed a little extra and went for a brand brand new one with tools etc. Still though, thats £75 i didn't have to spend.

Considering selling my phone and getting a "lesser" android phone, something bit cheaper.

Dell Inspiron Laptop, Vista.

A while ago had trouble with it booting, reinstalled vista but f**ked it up and there was two versions of vista on there.

Worked fine for a few months, the old version of vista seemed to have been dumped into a folder where it sat doing nothing.

So it got deleted, but is still in the recycling bin.

I'm positive the laptop has been shut off and restarted since, but now the laptop is saying that "internal hard disc drive not found" when trying to boot, but when you hit f12 and go into the boot options, it finds two versions of vista to boot from, so the only way it can know that is because it can access the hard drive surely?

Any ideas? Tried all the boot options and repair stuff but it just won't load up windows.

Don't have access Windows 7. If we were to re install it would be vista, but really hoping to find away around it or at least be able to get on to get all the important stuff off it before doing that.

Hmmmm. Try booting an Ubuntu live CD and copying the stuff off to an external.

Then steal W7. Seriously don't install Vista again, it's shocking. I just wiped my wench's 3 year old laptop of Vista and installed W7, it's at least twice as fast to boot up and to open the core programs like Firefox, Word etc.

Ok, I'm trying to format, but it won't boot from the CD.

Changed the order it boots so cd drive is at the top, and also hit f12 and told it to boot from the CD drive, but it takes me straight to the two visa's to chose from.

Even went as far as disabling all other bootable options and left only dvd/cd rom, and it now tells me there aren't any bootable devices. The DVD drive has been used before to reinstall.

Sorted now. Used

so I could boot (lets say windows 7 to keep Muel happy) from my external HDD.

My question is now what have I done to my external HDD and what do I need to do (if anything) to get it back to a normal functioning storage device?
