Wrayvon
Well I took delivery of this today:HereAnd its dam sexy! And very cheap on that site! I love it, soooo much nicer than my old 15".... 1024x768 compared to 1280x1200!!Very crisp and nice, pics of my set up soon (maybe)
weirdoku
I'm a massive geek, I won't deny that. But if I'm spending all this time building it and getting it working I want to be able to see it! Only 1 dvd drive? Surely that makes copying discs a bit long winded? Agreed, why spend £1K on a decent build but get a poo case? When people see it they will just think what a piece of junk!I want the antec skeleton case . Haz
No, but there is nothing good about having all your components out in the open. No focused airflow and lots of dust.
Muel
And they look f**king awful! You can't even stand them up, so where are you supposed to put it?
Si-man
and the fact any CPU cooler over 5 mm tall wont fit because they made the frame too low. Get Custom PC magazine, the review in that is bad lol.

munkee
No, but there is nothing good about having all your components out in the open. No focused airflow and lots of dust.Strange how everything runs cooler when its out in the open............
Si-man
With little airflow, dust will take a while to get onto components. Plus, being out in the open, there's nothing stopping the air from escaping, unlike a conventional case. Good idea, just not made too well at the moment.Just get a case with good airflow (Antec 900, 1200, Coolermaster Cm-690 etc) and some dust filters for intake fans and you can make a bloody good computer with minimum case an component temperatures. Also, to anyone not using Artic Cooling MX-2 thermal paste, GET SOME! Reduced idle temps from CPU from 35C to 27C and load from around 50C to 43C... Bloody good stuff. Was using artic silver 5 before hand on a Intel Q6600 with artic cooling freezer 7 cooler.
Krisboats
Get some wet and dry on your processor and you'll lose even more its the load temps that count anyway... idle's rubbish
Si-man
I don't dare try lapping yet. I want to lap the Cooler because its covered in machine lines that are like little trenches. You ever done it before?
munkee
i lapped my cpu (e6300) down to the copper to transfer heat better to the heatsinkthen i bought some mercury in a hyperdermic needle off the net for thermal paste... works a f**king charm! (hence the overclock on few pages back on air cooling) Edited January 10, 2009 by munkee

froggy
Here is a quick one of mine. I've not finished tweaking it yet. I need a new processor to get the core speed higher as the highest multiplier on mine is x6 which gives bus speeds to high to increase the core further.Spec is Antec 1200 CaseAsus P5Q Deluxe MotherboardIntel Core2Duo E6550 @ 3.4Ghz4GB PC6400 OCZ RAM @ 980MhzATI 4870 512MB GDDR5 OC 750/1075(2150 Effective)Unbranded 120GB SATA HD500Watt Corsair HX PSUTuniq Power 775 CoolerJust at 15,000 on Futuremark 06.More tweaking and pics to come.Edit: Core temps are high 20s and low 50s overclocked, I forgot to turn off orthos in that pic. Matt Burrows
Yeah I know I know I'm familiar with windows, and have never used OSX so it just made more sense to me. I'm pretty happy with it atm either way.Oh P.S. I am currently listening to eargasm at least once a day, tis good stuff

When I built this new PC I intentionally went back to XP 'cos it runs faster (I know a few people will disagree but I tried on 3 different PC's and I really can't get on with Vista, at all)Glad you like that mix - I've done a better one since (Mix wise anyway, possibly not music wise if you like the Eargasm tracks )
Krisboats
I don't dare try lapping yet. I want to lap the Cooler because its covered in machine lines that are like little trenches. You ever done it before?Sorry, i didn't see this. I have yeah... its so easy its unreal. I'd say building bike wheels is easily 3x more infuriating/time consuming/harder, and wheelbuilds aren't exactly rocket science. The hardest bit is just having the enthusiasm to keep running your hand round in a circle for that long.It helps a tonne though, my processor should be 2.0ghz and on air with just an arctic freezer 7 pro its now at 3.3ghz rock solid stable.
