Jonny Jones
Hi all, Merry Christmas! Basically ive got some old, black, Cannondale Fatty R forks that I managed to break some years back (steerer tube has snapped clean off just above where it goes into the fork 'crown'). Erm, the rest of the fork is fine, bit of spray paint on it which im gonna get off, but basically I wanna get a new steerer put in and I've no idea what company would be capable of doing so. So does anybody have any clues? Many thanks in advance and I hope everybody has a wicked Xmas eve and indeed Xmas day!!! Many thanks in advance and I hope everybody has a wicked Xmas eve and indeed Xmas day!!! theres a couple of engineering companies round my end that would undertake that kind of work, probably best looking in your yellow pages and goin round for a chat. theyll probably drill out the fork crown to 1 1/16 or the like, and get a 1 1/8 tube, turn the last inch down to 1 1/16, and weld (top and bottom) and possibly pin it in. Gogz-
chain reaction cycles might be a good place to look.
eskimo
I don't know how those were built. But it might be cheaper, easier and better future proofing if you were to use a steel steerer and just have that glued and pinned in? Skoze
I'm probabl;y getting myself confused with other things, but didn't fattys just have the steel steerer pushed in and then pinned?I'll check mine when i head out to the garage, i'm sure most engineering companies would do it - i'll have a word with the father if you like? LEON
Try some bike shops for old steerers, I worked in action bikes years ago, and in the basement we had well over 50 unused steerers just laying around.Leon
Jonny Jones
Hey guys Merry Xmas! Thanks for all the replies, I figured as much as to look in the Yellow Pages but I just wanted to see if anybody knew of specialist companies off hand. So yeah I'll just ask around I think! REALLY wanna get these forks up and running again, as they are iconic and simply epic!
eskimo
To be fair they're not that uncommon on here, so i wouldn't worry to much about the repair of your current ones.

Im just hoping rapairing them will be cheaper than buying a brand new set, as there aren't a lot of forks I like the look of.
