Sam-Addy A3
Hey all, i know alot of people on here are into IT and all that so thought i would ask here.Im looking for a new laptop, something half decent. I don't know loads about computers, but i want something with at least 120GB hard drive, decent sized RAM, decent graphics card etc. Will probably be using it for some of my photography aswell and for loadsa internet stuff etc (the usual)Right so what im asking is, do any of you know of any decent websites/shope where i could get a decent spec computer? The only places i know are like Currys. Also what sorta price am i lookin at for something like this?ThanksSam
MadManMike
For that kind of spec, quite a lot.Generally Laptops are lower spec than PC's, unless you want to pay a fortune. As a rough guide, I paid £350 for 40gb HD, 2gb RAM, Crap gfx & sound.Expect to pay double that for a half decent one. Mine was fine for general computing, but useless for games/ high performance programs.
Tomm
I don't know loads about computers, but i want something with at least 120GB hard drive, decent sized RAM, decent graphics card etc. That's pretty ambiguous you know. What do you mean by 'decent' graphics etc? Unless you have anything you especially want to run, then are you sure you even need good graphics?! A quick look at the Dell website says that even their cheapest proper laptop (£369) has a 160Gb hard drive and 2Gb of RAM which is reasonable. Unless you have any particular brand in mind, I suppose Dell is a decent enough place to start looking?
aener
Advent Laptops are good, and cheap.£420 got me 320GB HDD, Core 2 Duo at 2GhZ, 4GB RAM.Battery life of 3.5 hours.Bit on the heavier end of the spectrum, though.Have a look on eBuyer.I get everything of mine from there, if it's not from eBay. Si-man
Don't use currys, PC World, Comet, Dixons etc. They will sell you shite. Best off with Ebuyer, can get bloody good ones on there.
