Rowan Johns 24" Ashton / Diamondback

So Ive been riding the new Ashton/DB 24" bike for a while now - and I love it. So I did a little filming.

It's all filmed at Lloyds in Bristol, in a couple of sessions. Im never going to be the greatest rider on a 24"er but I'm having a load of fun with it and thats kinda what this vid is all about - FUN.

you can watch in streaming HD at YOUTUBE (click watch in HD) or at VIMEO it is a shade over 3 mins.

If you want to stream in HD actually the youtube is better, however vimeo users can download the original file and watch 720p HD if they wish ... its around 120megs (bit excessive but I just used a standard export this time around ...)

So thanks to Martyn and the team, Dave @ TT, and all the other sponsors / peeps who have sorted / helped me out. Oli for the filming (thats him under the tripod (used to ride trials in Bristol for those that remember or care))

EDIT - http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....5&hl=ashton is close up pics of the bike for those that haven't seen (and want to) ...

Luke just linked me to this on msn - oh my...

Best video i've seen this year, along with your last one :P

Playing on a 24" seems to have been a wise choice! Guessing you've taken to it pretty well?

Cheers, was really enjoyable.

Matt

P.S, i need a backwards gear too.

Shear quality street vid, creativity and fluidity in diamond form. How the hell are you rolling backwards without pedalling, are you using a freecoaster hub, or running a few spacers on your cassette like what Aaron chase, and jeff lenosky run on their bikes? Love the moving camera angled shots, that must have taken a good number of takes to get it perfect.

The editing of the saturation was cool B) And the riding was really impressive, certainly knows how to manual that bike.....

Also loved the backwards manuals and the freecoaster???

How come you don't have to pedal backwards in fakie but you do pedal backwards when backwards manualing???? :S :S

You running a freecoaster or what?? I wouldn't have thought that would be safe enough for trials (because it would be really dangerous if it kept disengaging......)

The frame looks awesome as well. Similar geo to the foreplay?? The paintjob is actually sooooo cool.

I'd have thought it's a spacer in with the rear block/casette, so you can flick onto it, and not have to pedal backwards. I think Lenosky and co. use the same thing (Y)

Simple solution!

Great new moves mate, im guessing your not using a freecoaster as u run a hope pro 2 on the rear. I think uve just taken it off the cog and onto the spacer's on your rear freewheel. am i right?

correct. I just shift the chain off the sproket onto the spacers. And yoyoyo will confirm - its a hoot.

shot on a canon HF10 /100 - not had much playing time with it yet so some shots came out a lot better than others... but b/w is a great leveler i find

awesome as per usual. Another keeper. Cant say I like any of the lines in particular because they all seemed to stand out from each other, and all were done very well :)

Good video too, not sure about the constant black-and-white-except-for-blue effects but it was still very watchable. Good camera work from Dave too :)

awesome bud!!!!
