Hope Pro 2 Trials

Hi every one. I have checked the wiki and the search and cant find any thing to help so....

I have got a hope pro 2 trials and I'm pretty sour that its skipping. ( I know I should be able to tell but it is making different noises and such stuff)

Is it going to be very hard to take apart? Will i need special tools?

I have had experience with taking cassette drivers apart and removing bearings from hubs and all that.

I would like to know if any one has got any tips for me before i start stripping it down.

You've probably snapped a spring.

No special tools needed.

Take cassette off, pull off little metal axle end (drive side) with mole grips/whatever.

Pull lightly on freehub bodyand twist anti-clockwise slightly. The freehub body will come off in your hand, hopefully with pawls/springs intact.

Clean it all out, check springs and pawls. If you ain't snapped a spring you've probably done the freehub shell bearings in. Check them out and replace if neccesary.

Once its all cleaned out lube with light oil, push freehub back onto axle. Use screwdriver to ease pawls into place.

You'll need to seat the green seal so use a screwdriver to gently press it back in place.

Put axle end back on, then cassette and lockring.

And there we are.

oh my god that sounds so easy. I will gave it a go tomoro . In the passed with other cassettes I have had to remove all the bearings and unscrew the driver from the non drive side.

SO there isn't much point me paying out to get some one else to do it then. ( I thought it might be uber hard)

cool thanks

Thanks you guys. I took it apart to day, and I have snapped ont of the springs (got one on order from tarty)

One thing I did see is small bits of swarf on the inside edge of the ratchets would this be because it is new, I have checked all the ratchets and the look all OK and not worn at all so I don't know what the f is going on there.

If you snapped a spring, then the bitsof swarf are probably just that. I very much doubt that you've done anymore damage to the hub! Give it all a good clean out with WD40, then when you get the new spring, just get some Halfords/Finishline wet lubricant on the internals to keep them moving properly. Will be much better after that!
