The Hitcher
Hello all, I have had my Echo TR lever for a month now and i hate it. I have bled it 7 times now and im good at bleeding brakes. This lever just never makes the brake feel good and solid, no mater what i do it always seems spongy. I think it also lets air in because after about 4 rides my TPA is completely in, and it isn't my pads waring down. But i cant see any leaks, i have spoken to a few people about this and they have had similar problems with there TR lever. Just wanted to hear from some of you guys weather your having the same problem with them.Cheers.
Al_Fel
Dengs a bit of a bad jock when it comes to seals. I suggest you buy a new maggy piston or use a newish one you might have spare in your brake. You'll probably notice its a bit harder to push in then the echo one, which will be a good thing.Anyway good luck and I hope that works for you. SCOTTY___
Tryed that with my Echo Brake.. just gave it an extra few days till i have to bleed it, and it feels just as spongy. But ive had mine in pieces and checked it all fine.. just the water seems to vanish.. weird.. but yeh echo brakes are wank
eskimo
If it needed a bleed because of the initial leak and not from damage then send it back.
The Hitcher
thanks guys yea i will send it back i think, But i dont particularly want another one and i dont want a magura one either because they are horrible. So it leaves me no choice but to go back to the echo cnc.

Nick Manning
Use oil.I use water in my brake. I'm using a current Magura HS33 rear, not had any problems with mine, I just give it a re-bleed now and again, but it's not that often probably 6 months or so.Rob Brodie has an Echo TR rear brake, and his leaks too, he's on his second, after sending his first back. As far as I'm aware he's gonna send his current one back, and possibly get the Echo CNC or a traditional Magura HS33.I've not used the Echo brakes, but after looking at Rob's it looks like there's a problem with the seals in the master cylinder where the lever piston pushes the fluid. In echo I would suggest not using water as it is more likely to leak, as it is a lot thinner, use oil instead.

AdamR28
Well not really: http://rbdesign.sk/image2/ergo_1f_01.jpgWe found a couple of the TR levers to have slightly undersized seals, we are currently checking all our stock and replacing the seals in those which aren't perfect.CheersAdam
Jimmy_k
Mine leaks very slowly from the bleed screw. If you dont have it mega tight you can see the fluid weep out when the brake is held under pressure for a while.
Aarron on a echo lite 08
yeah it leakes they not very good i had one and swaped it with a maggie after i found out it started water was driping out
totaltrials
Simply use oil like you're meant to. You're not meant to use water in these brakes or any other hydraulic brakes. Unfortunately if you've used water it's likely you've invalidated your warranty. I'd suggest putting some mineral oil in if you're using water and hope you haven't knackered the seals already.Of course if you are using oil and haven't changed a thing and still have problems you should be untitled to a warranty claim.Somebody said something about not being able to get a solid feel to the brake, you have to remember the lever is longer than hs33 levers so you're more likely to get a bit more flex around the brake mounts so make sure you have a decent booster if you're getting too much flex and you'll benefit from the longer lever blade. Shaun H
Why are people STILL putting water in Deng brakes? It's been more or less proved they don't like it...People have been putting water in maggies for year (me included) and there's very rarely any problems yet as soon as a Deng brake comes into contact with it they fail. PaRtZ
Of course if you are using oil and haven't changed a thing and still have problems you should be untitled to a warranty claim.doh But what you said resonates with what Ive heard too. Will Arnolds got one and he says it leaks a bit too with water in it. Oil woukd probably be fine
