monkeyseemonkeydo
He might've been running a chain device before, or just removed them to save weight but I'm almost certain you couldn't fit a granny ring to those.
CurtisRider
Alternatively, i remember truvativ hussefelts that came on complete bikes with 32t+rings never even had the inner ring mountings drilled out and tapped, could be the case for these too if they are oem cranks

I've never seen that either. None of the hussefelts or holzfeller cranks have them (which annoys me) so I reckon those were made like that. monkeyseemonkeydo
Fair do's. In which case, you could drill and tap the blanks.
