Sam F
Basically as the titles say really.. when i got the frame i was able to wack the headset in with my hands and well this worried me as you can imagine.. any ideas what it might be causing this, or is that it is my frame flared and buggered? grant_hundley
Flared frame (not deffinitly, but if there's been a headset that's ever so slightly bigger than the king, it will have pushed the headtube out to a slightly bigger size, if that makes sense).Get a FSA Pig headset, it'll be fine then Edited December 3, 2008 by Bob Fossil
Fixed Pants™
As said, there's not much you can do about it.
Sam F
All thats ever been in there is a V!Z Headset.. Silver CK and now a Green CK.
grant_hundley
Starting to sound like it's flared then..I'd try a FSA Pig headset (the one with sealed bearings ideally)That should sort your problem, unless it's flared really badly. Sam F
I can't take it out.. just in.. and to be honest the headsets been through ALOT, is there any damage to the headset that might be causing it? Because before i sold the frame with the silver CK that fit in nice and snug, the kid hasen't touched it with anything since he bought it, it just say in his shed singing to itself. grant_hundley
Try another headset.. It's not just going to shrink. Sounds like that guys ridden it with a loose headset...

durkie
i had a frame with this same problem...and i could put in my ck headset by hand on a new frame. the owner of the company personally assured me that it would not be a problem once everything was tightened down, and for the most part it was. i think it's just a tolerances thing....that the headtube was reamed to some plus tolerance and the headset was machined to some minus tolerance, and that big gap between them causes looseness.but it didn't become a problem until now, two years later, and i just shimmed a pig and it works great again. Bionic Balls
mine is the same...but i'm sure my headtube is flared! doesn't really make any difference to the ride, except a bit creaky if it's not tight enough
CC12345678910
Try a new headset or as a longshot get someone to powdercoat the inside of the headtube and use the paint to fill the gap mabye? I think it could work but i'm only guessing.

Dan6061
I pushed my King headset in with my hands too, after having an unsealed Pig in there.I just Loctited it in place, and it's feen fine since!
Gandalf the Yellow
same problem. common with generally shit frames that comes from china.i thought it was flared after a bit of usage but found anything FSA fits nice and tight! i rang up evo-imp and basically said "CK products are 'high precision' products" and basically conclusion was cheaper headsets will fit. don't get expensive ones. make sure you use a proper headset press.steve
sstein
Try the coke can trick if it becomes a problem, but only the tiniest strip. Edited December 3, 2008 by sstein
grant_hundley
Try the coke can trick if it becomes a problem, but only the tiniest strip. It would have to be majorly flared for the coke can strip to fit in...
Greetings
It would have to be majorly flared for the coke can strip to fit in...Yeah, flared headsets are a bit of a bother because there's not much that will fit inbetween. There are quite a lot of headsets out there which sit much deeper in the frame.Try these for example:
Revolver
The chris king steelset goes deep.I look at that, and then inside my frames, and wonder how the hell it would ever go in far enough.
Gandalf the Yellow
Try these for example:is it just me or this VP headset looks gorgeous??steve
Sam F
To be honest.. it doesn't rock or anything.. i can't get it out with my hands or twist it inside the frame so it isn't that much of a problem that i can put it in with my hands. Dekes
I'd try green locktite. It's permanent for screw thread interfaces but you'll get your headset out again as it's only pressed. It should do the job I heared. And it will be a lighter, but most of all cheaper, solution than buying a heavy deep cup headset. Edited December 6, 2008 by Dekes
Dan81
I was also going to suggest the loctite route....
