Jonny Jones
Ive been searching around for a new web host, as my current one is very intermittent, one day it can be fast, the next pretty much dead. I think the server is in the states but im currently running it through www.theresellerspanel.com.The best new host I could find at the moment is http://www.uk2.net/ - just wondering if anybody has any experience with them? If not, can anybody suggest a better host? I'm willing to pay around £50 a year. Need a decent amount of space and LOADS of bandwidth, both of which have to be reliable and rocket fast, so the data center has to be in this country - im guessing it makes a difference if the data doesn't have to travel over any large ponds.Cheers in advance - im sure this is a subject peeps like Simon and co will be able to answer with ease!Jonny. Jonny Jones
You know Tom/Danny offer webhosting on their server for cheap? I do but im looking for something pretty serious, ish lol, you know what I mean! Not that I don't appreciate Danny/Tom's efforts and offers, but I'd rather just go about it myself with a well-respected hosting company
doopdoopbedoop
I've never ever had any trouble with Web Mania, check them out
tomturd
We had a server with uk2, they were pretty good, and fast. But that was a dedicated server, not sure what their shared hosting is like. You could try looking for hosts in europe too, I think the ping from here to our current server (in Germany) was only a couple of ms slower than to UK2. doopdoopbedoop
Yea, sorry, after I posted it I realised they only do one package now. The one they offer used to be the smallest of a whole range. Annoying, because I've had 100% uptime and absolutely no problems with them in a good 6 years of solid usage. tomturd
Unfortunately when we moved servers we downgraded our bandwidth.. from 5000gb to 2000gb.. although we won't use it I guess its best we keep any spare aside. As jonny pointed out, we're not a professional host, in fact moving users from our old server to the new one isn't going so well! ha. oops..In short, we won't be able to match a decent 'normal' host - have a look at webhostingtalk.com, specifically the subforums where all the sales are, and then do a search for any hosts you seem to like the look of to see if they get any decent reviews.
