To me they look fairly good but never actualy seen any in action. As far as i know they come with the 24/7 frame sets. What are they like? Stronge or weak? What sort of price would i be looking at?(This is not a wanted topic)Thanks again Ash Edited November 26, 2008 by white-lightning
Callum.Curwood
Hello Ashley.I have some cranks a bb and a screw on sprocket and a brake you can borrow until you get your's. I know one of the cranks has slighty rounded, but if you carry a 8mm all will be fine You have got your wheel now rite? And I'm sure Peter has a cable disk at his that he won't mind lending you, If you have a lever and a cable You need to start riding agian boy Your good friend,Callum. mike137
Do you know if they are forged or cnc`ed?.Mine are welded it seems, but they are 2001 cranks if i remember rightly so the newer ones may be different.

mike137
Although these are the latest model, they are the same design as mine...Are they not welded then?

Go on tarty and have a look at the crank section. None are welded for a reason..

Yep, there NOT the ones i was thinking of, same company?Forget what i said above, its probably of no relevance to the ones you are looking at, sorry.Go on tarty and have a look at the crank section. None are welded for a reason..The 24/7 cranks i have are definatly welded, and have definatly stood up to at least 3 years of stick on various downhill tracks up and down the country from a mate of mine (admitedley on a full susser) and if i remember right, another 3 years at the hands of me on my hardtail, both arms are in one piece, no signs of failure around any of the welds, and the threads, axel and bearings are still fine (think my mate changed the bearings from the origional ones, but i have not so much as touched them).I agree, none of the cranks on tarty are welded, but if there is a reason why, what is it? I am assuming it is mostly due to weight, or is it that a steel weld is superior to an ali weld, and ali is used to keep the weight down, hence no welds?Sorry for warbling a bit.Mike Edited November 29, 2008 by mike137

mike137
The stress's on a trials bike compared to downhill are very different.Agree 100%, but surely the forces involved with downhill are far greater than those on a trials bike; due to the terrain, speed, weight of the bike etc etc? Alex Dark
those 24/7 cranks, the trials ones are copies of the old tensile cranks......fairly strong ; although the old ones did tend to snap at the bottom of that cnc'd scoop out at the front
