Your Resting Heart Rate

So, you're all fairly active, fit people from what I can tell... I just wondered what everyone's resting heart rate is.

For those that don't know how to work it out, find your pulse on your neck or wrist like they showed you in school. Then start a stopwatch and count the beats of your heart for 60 seconds, or 30 seconds and double it. If you want to be uber thorough about it, do it a few times during a day at points where you are resting and then average them out.

Mine is 72, which I'm fairly unhappy with - used to be 67.

Just had a shower and some food and sat down at the computer, my heart is going at 52 beats per minute.

I thought it was the recovery speed of your heart rate that was important?

Absolutely right, fitness is a combination of recovery rates and resting heart rates. It's no good recovering fast if your resting heart rate is 75% of your maximum, just as there is no point in having a resting rate of 60 if it takes 3 days to get there.
