RobinJI
Whatever you can get a good deal on. For that money you cant really be choosy. But 2 options to look out for are VW polos, mk2/3, so pre '94, just don't seem to be worth anything even if they're in generally good nick. Same goes for metros as well, and in fact if anything you probably get more car for your money. So yeah, think old and simple, and for that cost, best bets to look for something with a pretty good mechanical history, but a bit of a dog visually. You wont care how shiny it is if you're under the bonnet at the side of the road every 30 seconds.

RR_Trials
not by the looks of what people above have to say. What cars are really cheap on insurance? I thought a 106 would be but I couldn't find insurance for less than £1200 .I want to spend about 5 or 600 on a car (as that's all I have at the moment).Recommendations? TomN
It depends, i mean i bought mine for 200, was fine just that m.o.t was due in dec and there was a hole underneath but got that welded and past, that cost about 100 then after a few months alternator went so spent 200 on that so i see that i spent 500 on the car in total which still aint bad for a first car to get a years no claims so i can get insured on a better car. Which i now have a mk4 golf gt. Just depends where you look and that.
tipsy Jock
I'd only buy a car for that much if it came with free AA cover

Captain Scarlet
My dad bought a mk5 Escort for £100, previous owner also fitted new tyres for that.Just a few cosmetic bits on the outside, some rust obviously, bit of fibreglass here and there, but interior and engine is all sweet as a nut. Jaffacakes
Saying that, me and my mate bought an old rover metro a few years ago for £25, was alright, hadnt been on the road in 3 years though.Had £7 in the ashtray and £5 worth of fuel in it. So cost us like £13 pounds. So we put wonkey speed lines on the roof, spray painted/stickered it, painted it in PVA glue and ragged it through hedges, grassy fields and muddy back roads, and duck taped branches too it, so it was camo stylee. We battered the f**k out it.It looked cool until we rolled it down a hill sideways. All the wheels got bent.

Dan6061
I might need to look for a car for under £100, just something to last until I finish sorting the Mini out!Where did Top Gear get their cheap £100 cars from? Especially Jeremy with the '£1' Volvo...
