Hobnobs
I would give them a definite thumbs up. I'm not exactly the hardest rider, but mine have been solid, nice and grippy and feel good under your feet. Worth a pop i'd say.
Ben John-Hynes
Save an extra £15 and get some mag ones?EDIT: Sod that advice, obviously you didn't care about weight so Ill shut up Edited November 19, 2008 by BenJohn-Hynes
sstein
The grip of slim jims is not great with the standard pins, especially if you ride in wet weather, however they are a nice comfortable shape and the pins are easy enough to change should you want to. Also with trials as your feet push into the pedals at quite a substantial angle then there is less of a problem with slipping off them than with other sports, it just hurts more when you do though! mr_malcolm
the pins in the picture look fairly long, i have a pair and the pins are really short and dont offer the best grip.i would recomend replacing the pins with longer ones. davey1991
slim jims are good but the pins like to fall out and they really arent very good in the wet or mud, go the dmr v8 route.
NVWOCI WVS
They were great on my bmx, but they feel shit on my trials bike. It's really weird and I can't put my finger on why. Maybe it because I didn't land on them on my bmx and they retained all the pins. Not sure. They feel comfortable on your foot, as theyre nice and flat and low profile, just not very grippy and not so confident in them when I can feel my feet sliding and squirming on them. Theyre shit in mud too as the standard pins are really short.
CurtisRider
same as sam, decent enough pedals but for trials i found the pins went to shit pretty quickly

Dan6061
I thought the Slim Jims were good pedals! They were grippy enough for me, pins did tend to dissapear quickly though, but you get spares with them. Plus you can just buy a load of grub screws from a bolt/bearing place for cheap. They look good too! Another downside is the bearings started to go after a good few months, maybe from big drops etc... Gave them to my bmxer mate and he finished them off!I've got some Primo Stricker pedals on now, unsealed magnesiums, and they're mint! Had them for months and only lost one pin!Link to my pedals - http://www.evanscycles.com/products/primo/...ampaign=froogle Edited November 21, 2008 by Dan6061
Joe_Elding
Mine have lasted me like three years...and one of those years was my 'drop gap' time. definately reccomend them still going perfectly.

Mikee
Thanks for the comments so far but i am still abit unsure about what to get so i am going to keep my options open and ask you guys for your opinion of the best platform pedals you have used.EDIT: But not the ones that are over about £40 unless you have some better ones that you are selling for cheaper of course Edited November 22, 2008 by Mikee
Josh Greenan!!!!!!!!!!
The pins were not long enough when i had a pair of slim jims. Get some Dmr v8's.

RossMcd
I have a pair of V12's which i got over a year ago on a secnd hand bike. They still feel as good as when i first got them! and i have only lost 1 pin!
craigjames
got to agree, the pins are too short. replace them with some longer pins and you're sorted. the size and shape of the pedal body is nice and supportive to your foot. didnt have any issues apart from the length of the pins.
