Ezg_Cannuck
Hey all, just was curious to know if the Echo hydraulic rim brakes are really worth the extra money over the Maggies? Replies from people who have tried both would be great...Cheers
eskimo
I'd also like to know too. Just after reading this on the Tarty website about the Echo TR brakeThese brakes come with a 1 year warranty covering manufacturing defects and materials, which also covers the sealing of the brake. Please note that using water to bleed the brake will invalidate the warranty. So that should protect the user from the previous problems that were encountered. spartan
I have one of the 08 echo brakes and i really like mine.Though i liked the maguras on james hydroxx alot better.
AdamR28
'These brakes come with a 1 year warranty covering manufacturing defects and materials, which also covers the sealing of the brake.' This has always been the same for all Echo brakes.

adam 94
Probably I'd say the new echo tr brake, but a maggie is still good and is the cheaper option.

Netto on OTN tried on of the TR brakes and said he encountered a lot of leaking at the lever seal.
spartan
yeah i heard him talking about that.I have the 08 echo and have had not problems with it at all. There are no leaks and the lever has only a bit of play in it.If i were you however i would just buy a magura, the better brake over all and what pros do u see running echos vs maggies. J Trials 31
Just get a vee. They are both going to leak eventually.
Greetings
Keep it simple - Maggie with an Echo CNC lever blade. You get the advantage of the Echo brake system with the reliability of a good old Magura.
JonMack
That's what I was thinking, or 04 Maggie with Echo TR lever blade?
JoNnY__Mc
That's what I was thinking, or 04 Maggie with Echo TR lever blade?Would that work?I have felt one of the new echo levers set up with magura pistons, had a really nice lever feel! Smooooth as (water bled), comfy and had little flex, should weigh a little less and look smart as aswell!Couldn't tell much difference in power, either of the two brakes set up right will work well so upto you! If your magura works then why change it...
JonMack
It's based on the principal as an RB lever isn't it? So I would imagine with some playing it would be doable.
Greetings
Echo TR blades aren't sold separately. So even if they did fit, you'd need to buy the whole lever first.
16 years later
I would stick with maggies. Had a cnc 07 for 1 year and i think that 33's are better, i used 33's before and liked the feel and the power.
Simpson
You cant trust Deng for thing like this imo. My Dengura was amazing, but loads of them had problems.. mine came with f**ked up cycliners and had to grind them to fit pads in... maggie with a fresh products lever will always win... J Trials 31
I so not know anyone that has had problems with oldstyle maggies except the tpa.Yeah, maybe your right. I loved my 04' maggie and my HS-22, but I got rid of them when I sold the T-Rex about a year and a half ago. I had an HS-11 and the one on my bike. Seems they both suck. Wish I could have my 04' back.
