TonyB
Looking at what to get to replace my stolen BT Raven 4.0.I've noticed a few Adamant short frames for sale. They are 1070 with 15mm BB rise according to Tartys. My BT was, I think 1090 (or maybe 1100) with +5 BB rise.I am 6ft and weight 13st. Is a short frame too small for me? And how would it feel after the BT? I always thought that the BT felt long. I rode R2WTrials Adamant A2 frame which seemed strange with the high BB rise and seemed to come up on the back wheel really quickly - is a short frame going to be like that?Advice please... manuel
I would say its all about reach ... Centre bb to centre top. which is going to determine how stretched or cramped you are going to feel ? example - my last two bikes have had reaches of around 680 - 685mm - which is more than on a 1099 koxx boxx and in fact longer than most long frames ... and their wheelbases have been 1055 and 1065 .... i fi were you i would go with a simtra - as that will probs be more equivalent than the adamant ? TonyB
Not really looking for an equivalent of the BT. Just wondering how it would feel compared to a BT Raven 4.0 geo. Interesting comment about reach.
Ash-Kennard
look at the long controls, about 1085, good reach, +20 generally suits everybody
basher
You bt's geo was ruffly 1080 depending on forks 375 and 10 bb. The reason it will have felt so long will have been the reach as they have a long reach.
r2wtrials
You want a nice Pitbull mate
Greetings
look at the long controls, about 1085 good wheelbase, good reach, +20 good rise, generally suits everybodyThat's better.I'd personally go for the short Control. It isn't at all short but it's quite nice to ride.
J Trials 31
Why not just get a new short BT? If yours was too long, get a short.Sorry, meant a 6.0 or 7.0. Don't quite like the new ones. Edited November 9, 2008 by J Trials
JonMack
You want a nice Pitbull mate Bens? That rear hub is imminent death, but apart from that, do it
Matt Burrows
Well since nobody has actually answered the OPs question...I think short Adamants are awesome. I had a long control for nearly 2 years before, dullest bike ever compared to the Adamant. Like Rowan said the reach is what you want to worry about. The reach on the short Adamants is actually a lot longer than most bikes with similar wheelbases. Riding it compared to longer bikes, it kinda pushes your weight further over the backwheel when backhopping. It flicks through to back wheel very quickly, I remember when I first got it I just felt like it was flying compared to the supposedly more trialsy Control. Really good for front wheel moves, infact all my power moves have got a lot better on this frame even though it is more effort on the backwheel. I think the main reason I love it is it just feels FAST. Fast and flicky and when you ride it you feel like you can just put it anywhere you want, because its not a long barge like so many modern bikes! TonyB
Some good answers (and very interesting about reach - never considered that before) - thanks to all
