JT!
'Mountain biking" tends to refer to XC (cross country) riding. Then you have downhilling, which obviously is just caning it down a hill as fast as you can go. Then freeriding which i don't really know how to describe. Mainly f**k off big drops and riding northshore trails and such, hammering you're bike more than downhilling, but not nessiserally going for speed. So it depends what you're looking at really. Mark W
Your best bet would probably just be to get a sturdy, affordable hard-tail, and just find some local trails and just have a pedal around. Hard-tails are easy as hell to look after, generally you get more bike for your money compared to a similarly priced full sus bike, and there's something awesome about the feel of hard-tails. Just have a go, basically. If you enjoy DH, start customising your bike to do DH better. Same for XC, singletrack, etc. Just see what you enjoy and go from there. Pashley26
Looks like a nice scenic route to take on a light XC bike - http://www.cycle-route.com/routes/Burnham_...Route-1361.htmlOr if you fancy a bit more of a challenge - http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Shoeb...Crouch-and-backI'd recommend a 2008 Specialized Hardrock for a nice cheap and good to ride light cross country bike. Pashley26
Nice one mate Is that all cross country then, as in forests and mud and shit?Sam I guess so ? You live there, follow the maps and see if you know any of it ? Thats the best part of XC though, just riding somewhere to see where it goes.
