Duke
Hey guys.I'm looking for some helpI'm completely new to the trials bike scene and really have no real bicycle knowledge! So in advance I apologize for the use of general terms.Well to get started I ride a new Monty 221PR, which is an 2006 model that has been sitting in a box for a couple of years, but nevertheless NEW.Ive only ridden it on several occasions and everything was sweet and running well.Recently a clicking noise has developed from somewhere. It seems to be coming from the left side of the crank, and clicks when I push down on the left pedal when riding. The noise does not occur when i roll the bike, only when my weight is on the pedals. It sounds as if it is coming from some internal component but i couldn't know for sure. Is this something that i should be worried about? And do any of you have any ideas of how to rectify the problem? Please guys, if you could help me out, it would be much appreciated.Cheers Lads
Ravemonkey
If the cranks creaks you may just have to tighten your cranksYou really have to cream your crank bolts up as hard as you can without damaging the bolt headtry that and see if it works Edited October 24, 2008 by Ravemonkey
Jitters
Yep, like Ravemonkey said. Check both pedlas too to make sure they are snug in their threads. Creaks can be funny. They may sound like they are coming from a particular place and it may be something from a completely different component. If wrenching on the cranks doesn't fix the situation, look into the bottom bracket. Check that it is well snug. Better yet, if the creaking continues, remove the BB and reinstall, make sure the threads are very clean, don't cross thread 'em and use lots of assembly grease before retightening. Good luck! James Shields
My cranks used to do this on my mod, i simply just left it and rode with it, used some oil on the pedals and tightened everything up and it was fine, then came back.Never made damage just a horrible noise. Maybe grease the parts up like previously said, and check everything. james
dano
try removing the crank arm and pedal and greasing the taper on th bb and threads on the pedal that usualy does the job

Adrian
had this a million times and still have it, but it can be from a few things~!1. could be pedals, about 3 weeks ago i had a creaking sound... wasnt sure what it was... turned out it was the bearing in my right hand pedal being crushed and my pedal wobbled a bit... then in a ride i did a sidehop, messed up jumped down but my pedal body was left on the wall lmao! and axel still in the crank arm. i have creaking from almost all of my pedals lol i jus ignore it now haha 2. bb one time i jus cleaned my bb and the creaking went.. the end happy another time (different bb) i went to clean it and have a look, turned out there was cracks all over the place .. bin!3. make sure you cranks and everything are super tight! cus it can come from stuff just being loose lolbut my bets are on the pedals that seems to be the most common, see if they wobble a tiny bit on the axel (so the axel stays still but the body wobbles) when this happens dirt can get in and its the dirt being cruched that makes the creaking xD
