Simpson
Right so here we go. Looks like I’ve quit trials maybe for good so thought it would be nice to share a few memories I’ve shared with you all. Firstly I’d like to thank all the great people I’ve met and socialised with thought the sport, most of you have been awesome, and with no other sport I don’t feel like I could have travelled all round the country to meet up with nicer people, just for me trials changed and became something it didn’t used to be.I used to enjoy finishing school and going out with a set of great lads and having a laugh. By motivation really dwelled after my riding mates quit until Maher came on the scene and we shared a sense of humour and had loads of amazing times on and off of the bike. Also big up to Balman who’s always persuaded me out, Birdman who made me drive miles to random rides and all the other people ive met along the way.. way too many to mention but in short, Scopse always coming to stay here and me going up to his and getting into trouble, Bess inspirational, Sponge first ever London ride helped me out along with elding. And all you other you know who you are. But at the moment I feel like the sport is too competitive and not the same fun it used to be. It used to be about sitting down together having a barney and doing some riding, im finding more and more its people aiming to go as big as possible while slagging off every other rider which isn’t something I want to be a part of. Also as I’ve got older I’ve got more financial commitments and very little spare time.I thought it would be nice to use pics to give a lil run down of my riding history – maybe just maybe ill come back to it, maybe at uni there may be a better scene/ 1st ever trials bike after my WTP nova, dam I loved this thing rode beautifully, decorated with Christmas lights in this pic although its pretty hard to see it in the picI never was the smoothest riderFirst and only ever time I brought a frame new was this Echo control, started a paper round just to pay for it and loved every minute of it, although to this day I regret buying a stock and especially chosing the long over the shortFirst real backwheel maybe, thought was a f**king beast of a wall back in the dayDown on the trading estate I spent hours downMy T-pro, after rupturing my spleen riding the doctors gave me a 6th month riding ban, sold the control and brought the dirt cheap T-pro and was riding within the month. Only lasted 3 rides until…I though f**k this and brought this gem, again paper round money had been saved and I brought this second hand off a friend in as good as brand new condition – money had been thrown at it with a totally top spec’ced bike, the 06 GU geometry was perfect for everything, didn’t like the flatter zoo bars thoughBackwheeled nice, this backwheel left me grinning for weeksIn the same day a lot smaller thoughBrought a bent KO for 30 quid and built it up, trying to learn more static moves this was my 1st ever real sidehop which I photo’ed on a self timer, never really got the hang of sidehops at all thoughSmall gap I loved doing, this was a sesh out with Joe an Balman which was a righ barneyAnd againI feel guilty for the state of these bins now, look like theyv’e been mauled by a large bear.Got a Monty, didn’t think I’d like it but f**k me, was bloody awesome, if I do get back into trials ever im waiting until I can get one of these, the only downside was I couldn’t backwheel it as well as the GUThis was an alright-ish back wheel considering the bruises on my thighsRail riding – go fast hold on hard and hope for the best was my moto, nailed this without killing myself too much which was a bonusBest sidehop on the Monty, always went the wrong way and always hated themHELLOBackwheel with 1 handed Luke, I f**king love that kid such a legend, never not a smile on his face, even when he’s angry he just looks so cute and loveableProbably my biggest ever sidehop but hate em’Ze adamant A3Uber tuckage, its going to catch on trustBye *kiss*
Fishy
This is kind of gay, as I was going to drive down at Christmas to see you and Scopse and have some fun on la velos. Looks like I'll just have to have some fun minus the bikes.

The bitching on rides also did my head in, riding for me is downtime

Captain Scarlet
Ah Simps shame to see you go, but I guess at the end of the day if its not an experience your enjoying as much, then why bother with it?Just a shame to see you and Byron go, 2 awesome faces, theres only really Birdman from your way now.All the best for the future I guess, no doubt you'll soon be on a motorbike, so if all goes well for my test, we'll be able to shoot off for a ride. Some of my memories. The bitching on rides also did my head in, riding for me is downtimeYou should ride on your own if you have the time. Well keep your bike and you probably find yourself doing that anyway. That's why i hate bmx these days, trials to me isn't as bad at all.
Rusevelt
You shouldn't give up because of the sh*ty attitude of people around you, then again its hard stay motivated when your trying to have fun with all that crap going on. I reckon your just going through a faze and ideally you just need to breakaway from all that negativity. You should at least stay in touch on the chit-chat thread if the trials chat banter gets too much for you. good luck dude whatever you decide to do

Sponge
Aww man, this is quite sad for me. I remember the several London rides we went on together; always fun. And yeah the days of your Saracen (was it snapped during a london ride?) and Control, yesh. Two-man ultimate munch by the Tate loading bay will always be a memory, amongst the very best I have of trials! Hadn't seen you for a long time after that, since I got injured and had very little time for a good year and a bit. Then boom, first London ride back, in '08 and you've gotten so good on your Monty! Man, I wish we could've ridden a bit more!I do agree with the pettiness of the politics on this forum and generally on rides. The atmosphere isn't the same. When I first started out it was brilliant; always the usual bunch out (mostly the UrbanTrials bunch: Steve Morris, Tim Rodriguez, Andy Chai, Jimbo Lim, Matt Staples) and it was great fun. Days of Ben Cox, Joe Elding, when all of these guys were regulars, back in 05 it must've been. Even videos I hardly ever download anymore; whereas a few years ago I downloaded almost every single one because they were all so genuinely interesting and fun to watch; now it's pretty stale. Just a bunch of kids who improve super fast with the exact same style as each other, same dress sense and 'rudeboy' attitude. It just got very boring very quickly. The new video by Stephen Morris: Replaceable Head was the first sign of freshness on the vid front in recent months; as it just reminded me of the years before and the old school sorta value it brought with it. If you're up for a London ride anytime at al in future (which I'm sure you'll love to)l; give me a buzz and we'll do a bit of ultimate munch round 2! What was it we were talking about first time around?... how much pringles we could fit in our mouths in one go? haha... ahh those days. You will be missed, ... for now!! 'Cos I expect you to return sooner or later ! *virtual handshake, virtual manhug*muhuahhaha..Peace!Sponge

Simpson
how much pringles we could fit in our mouths in one go? haha... ahh those days.My current standing record is 16 that was such a legend munch out sesh man Love you That sucks.. atleast you can walk away knowing to yourself that you won the swimming race against Luke in St Pauls!Yea but as luke said, "dont be too proud, I've got one f**king hand" which kinda took the wind right out of my sails! lol
anzo
I quit around last year sometime...I'd itching to get another bike, but much like yourself, other things must take priority.I imagine you'll be back into it in a year or so. Hope you stick around on the forum though!
