Inserts :s

if you cross thread a mount, then you need to start thinking about your technique in doing the bolts up (yes IM not joking either)

If you just push the allen key as hard as you can, as well as creating the moment, you're also creating a force in the direction you pushing, meaning force on the bolt, meaning the bolt is being pushed over to one side. Usually, and in small doses, it probably wouldn't affect how it bites the thread, but I'm sure you can imagine that after a while it can get out of hand....

You need to use one hand to push the leverage end, and the other hand counter-acting the force, pushing on the opposing side, but at the point of action. IE by the bolt's head

when doing the bolts up initially, always use the shortest end the screw them in quickly, if it gets tight, DON'T FORCE IT. Because if you're cross threading helicoils its because you're being too heavy handed with them and not taking care when screwing bolts into them. You wont ever get a replacement as good as the original thing, but helicoils are still damn good, purely on the fact that its a steel insert which is harder, so will resist cross threading a bit more than aluminium

I don't know where you're going to find inserts to put in. As well as butchering your frame more than a helicoil, its also alot more expensive.
